Haughton
I know it doesn't matter because he isn't around and we have to play with the guys we have but can someone remind me of what he did to get kicked off the team. I remember hearing grades, got in trouble, not grades, etc. I don't know if I ever heard the definitive answer.
He is still around campus? Any chance he can "earn" his way back on the team next year? Don't know if he has used a redshirt year but he could have 2 years left if he hasn't? Really miss him up front this year.

Re: Haughton
I heard grades. Guy never went to class, apparently.
Haughton hasn't used his redshirt year, so I don't know what his plan is.

Re: Haughton
Losing him is really hurting the line so far. Hopefully it's just a gelling thing but it's glaring so far.

Alvarez especially, and Hicks to some degree just couldn't physically handle the tackles Iowa brought. Haughton was 330 pounds of wrecking ball. He wasn't agile, but he was strong, and could clear out bodies at the point of attack. Rhoads said he is looking for finesse linemen, but you need guards that can hold up as well.

Re: Haughton
We just do not seem to have a push for the rushers, although our pass blocking is not as bad. The four dline people in first two games have stuffed the middle fairly well against us. This is looking like the oline from 2006-07 when we had no oomph.

Maybe that worked on the East Coast, but this is the Midwest and we put bruisers on the line for the games.
Since we are poor passers, we need to be able to run, which appears to be limited up to now by NIU and EIU. This Saturday we need to make some holes for ARob or it will be a long day.

Coaches were always commenting on it from both Chiz staff to Rhoads staff.

Re: Haughton
No doubt Haughton was agile for a big lineman. That touchdown he had against Missouri? Guy has some moves.

Re: Haughton
He prolly could have been better used on the defensive side of the ball.

Re: Haughton
I thought SH was our best OL the last 3-4 games last year and when the news was announced that he was dismissed I instantly tempered my expectations for the offense.

Re: Haughton
How about a blocking TE in the pros?
