Welcome aboard! I'm not sure how good he is or how good hes going to be, but hes more then likelygoing to be behind Shontrelle Johnson for 3 years.

According to his numbers he's no chump!! Is there something wrong with having a stable full of stud backs? Also it will push SJ to be the best he can be and vice-versa. Competition is never a bad thing.

Right now we have one good back. I'd like to see some on-field production from him this year and then the rest of the backs before we go anointing our stable of running backs as one of the best in the country.

If we're going to get a good recruit to come to ISU, let him. We need competition for playing time. Our upperclassmen need to get challenged and beaten for starting positions in order for us to really start turning things around.

Problem is.. we at least HAVE competition already at RB. We don't have any competition at all at the LB position.

Can Standard play LB? I hope so! Probably not at 5'8" and 170 lbs, huh? Darn. Oh well... get in line Standard. Right now you are right behind Shontrelle Johnson, Woody, James White, and Duran Hollis. Welcome aboard.

Wow. Hope he doesn't read this thread and change his mind. He's a top 50 player in the nation at his position. He's got an offer from Nebraska and a whole mess of Big 10 & Big 12 schools interested in him. Unlike you guys, I'm excited.

Exactly. I love how some can find a way to complain about talented kids committing to Iowa State.

If one thing is evident from the first two games it is that we lack speed and playmaking ability. This kid seems to have speed and playmaking ability. I cannot see how anyone can complain about this. I love the fact that CPR and staff are concerned with bringing in athletes. The position distinction will come in time...but for the time being all you can ask for is bringing in quality athletes and football players.

If he's good enough I hope he pushes for playing time right away. If not, he could redshirt and in 2012 we would have pretty good class balance with Sr. White, Jr. Woody and SJ, So. Hollis and Fr. Standard. (I think I got those correct)

As someone else said, it would be nice to have that at every position.

Some on this board are depressing. I opened this thread all excited about the get only to find people trying to come up with 50 reasons not to be excited. If we can get a top 50 ranked player of any position I am pretty pumped.

We should be excited. Talented guy wants to be here, and we beat Nebraska for him.

We're getting commitments from talented guys, and at numbers that most of us don't remember seeing before. It's like building a program around here or something.
