ISu will handle KSU
This is a good story, but I can't help believing that ISU will handle KSU this weekend.
I guess I shouldn't argue with Wally Burnham, but I think ISU faced two better backs in Robinson and Hampton last week than they will face in Thomas this week.
KSU's win over UCLA seems okay, but UCLA isn't that good this year. Skippy will be gone this year.
I've been accussed of drinking a lot of Cyclone Kool-Aid in the past, so I'm ready to get ripped again. Notebook: KSU's offensive improvement | Cyclone Fanatic -

As a comparison, he may be saying that we just played Thomas Jones and Jamar Charles and now we will play Adrian Peterson. Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Notebook: KSU's offensive improvement | Cyclone Fanatic I don't see us "handling" anybody that's left on our schedule, with the possible exception of UNI. All the age jokes aside, Snyder is a helluva coach and it will take our best effort to beat KSU on Saturday. As far as Iowa's backs vs. Thomas, I'd give the edge to Thomas by a slim margin. My concern is that he has the same kind of power that ripped us a new *** this past weekend. He's not the kind of guy I want to see in an opposing back field on any Saturday, let alone when we're as thin at LB as we are. What I wouldn't give to Jesse Smith back for another year.
I'm hoping for the best but I can't be as optimistic as you are. To each their own.

Daniel Thomas reminds me of Troy Davis in some ways. Bad team, but a very good player. ISU should be able to beat them.

"He has a good perception about where the ball should fit. His body size helps him." "There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

Re: ISu will handle KSU
They beat UCLA who ain't bad on defense. I have a hard time seeing us winning this game but I hope we have some tricks up our sleeves, especially with a really depleted LB core. Who plays to help contain those running backs? If you aren't really concerned about out front 7 versus Thomas you aren't paying attention.

I Think as long as our offense can keep moving the ball and Linebackers keep Thomas in check we will be okay.

Well yeah, obviously if we play well offensively and our extremely young and ridiculously thin LB corps keeps one of the very best RBs in the nation in check.... yeah if that happens of course we will be fine. If it was only that easy to shut down an excellent running game.
I think the chances of our defense holding their running game (Thomas is great and their backup Powell is pretty good too) in check is very minimal. I'd be amazed and thrilled if we hold him under 150.
We can win this week, but we will definitely have to put up some points, and probably get a key turnover or two on defense. This is a tough game, if we win it will be a huge win.

Re: ISu will handle KSU
With the exception of a couple of plays in the first game, A-Rob has been handled so far this year. Take out the long run his average must be scary. Let's hope that he is ticked off and ready to rumble this weekend. Its about time that he gets back to his old self!

Yeah, our interior run blocking has been awful, ARobs average, minus the TD is 2.827 yards/run. That is not going to get it done. We have been successful running to the edges, especially flipping out a quick pitch to ARob from the shotgun. I think we'll need to run to the outsides, run some WR screens maybe or just have a few early completions, then maybe the interior run game will open up.
