This is a BIG Game

This is start of conference and sets the tone for the rest of the year.

It is on the road with more purple fans than good guys and it will be difficult.

Snyder needs a win to help bring stability back to the team resifding in the Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

CPR needs a win to keep the confidence level up in the team.

AA needs a big game to show how he has improved and that he is a legit downfield passing threat.

ARob needs to get back on track to show he is a premier conference running back.

The WRs need to show more production and turn and burn.

The linebackers need to show they can tackle and stop a big time rusher.

The secondary needs to make some turnover plays to show they are back on track like last year.

The team needs aw in if they hope to be on future TV games or will they become irrelevant to Saturday early in the season.

ISU needs a win to put some pzazz into our recruiting.

Tom Herman needs a win to show his offense works.

The offense needs to prove they can score 30 or more a game and not just win by the defense making plays.

The punters need to show they can replace Brandtner from last year.

The oline needs to show some syncronization and drive to open holes.

The fans would like to see us beat a better on paper team for a change.

The team needs to show more enthusiasm whether winning or losing.

Clones NEED A WIN.

Last week was a total head-scratcher for me. Iowa's biggest advantage against us was in the trenches, and I can only recall two quick bubble-screens (a play designed to get the ball outside quickly) being called all day:

9-yard gain to Shontrelle
TD to Darks

I can't understand why we didn't work that more. It's a low-risk way to earn some easy yards on the outside, and draws the corners up tight creating opportunities for deep balls.

I realize that we should be able to pound the rock much more efficiently against K-State's defense, but I feel like we really need to make these bubble-screens a more regular part of our offense.

I have been telling people that the Cyclones are better than people give us credit for,
but that Iowa game was brutal,
Tomorrow is a very big game,
lets get them going CPR.

Huge head-scratcher for me as well. Was this just a preparation blunder in that they thought the O-Line would be effective at all, and didn't plan for having to play the "get the ball out of the pocket ASAP" game? Of course, by the time our offense got a chance to do anything, it was practically the second half anyways and we were down by 30 points, so it didn't make much of a difference since our defense was terrible.

With as good a receiver as A-Rob is, we absolutely HAVE to consider doing this a LOT more. It can help open up the running game, and the next time we play a team that has a tough D-Line like Iowa, this will be essential, IMO.

Not to mention, even CPR said that we don't exactly have a ton of speed in our WR corps, which means that it probably takes longer for them to try to get open and run routes. Exploiting some quick screens and bubble passes can help to take pressure off Arnaud so he has more time to throw, especially if it opens up the run game.

Although it may not be completely necessary, I kind of hope to see more of this against KSU just so I know Herman is considering it.

Need a win. If we lose this one, its going to be meltdown city on here.
