Re: Are you Really Surprised?
I was cautiously optimistic before the season, just like I always am. I always want to see at least 3 games before I really make a determination as to how the season will go. Well, we've seen 3 games now, and its plainly obvious that the offense has not improved since last year, and the defense is much worse after losing all that experience from last year. That all adds up to no more than 4 wins.
After last week, everyone was asking whether Iowa was that good or ISU was that bad. I think ISU is just that bad. Don't get me wrong, Iowa is good, but we made them look much better than they actually are. We could only muster 13 offensive points against a defense that is very similar to our own. That is pathetic. And our defense simply could not get off the field in the first half today, and the second half was not much better.
Its going to be a very long season.

Re: Are you Really Surprised?
i wouldnt worry much about this season but if you watched the game...the majority of the guys on our defense were sophomores. this bodes well for next year since so many are getting experience this year. hopefully next year we can recruit a better QB and with our depth at RB i think our offense and defense will improve greatly next year. inexperience + #1 schedule difficulty = rough season. nothing we can do but keep cheering them on and try and win as many as possible. rhoads wont let these guys fold after a 1-2 start like chizdik would have

Re: Are you Really Surprised?
Yes, I am surprised. I am surprised at our inability to score points, sustain drives and move the ball effectively. I heard someone "supposedly" smarter than me talking about how every defensive set or play poses a question and the offense and the play called is the answer. DUDE, we've got no answers on offense. BTW, it was nostraeinstienherman who said that.

Rhoads is working with mediocre talent, and trying to stick with the opponents. Give him some time and lets see where they are in 2 more years. I know that is a hard pill to swallow, but it is the truth. Not surprised at the result as I thought of the game as a toss up going in. I am disappointed in the lack of improvement on the field. I knew we were going to take our lumps this year against Iowa, Texas, NU and OU but thought while we might lose a lot that we would be seeing some improvements. Today looked just like a game that could have been 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009. Bad tackling, stupid penalties and poor execution when we had opportunities. -

What I am surprise is that I'm saying this: Woody deserves more carries - he should be hauling the rock at least 12 times a game.

Re: Are you Really Surprised?
I am surprised actually. The D surprised me to the upside giving up only 27 points and a pick 6. The O has surprised me to the downside all season. 5 touchdowns in three games? That is not what I was expecting from a vetran O.
