By the way, UNI defense will probably make it another low scoring game.
Even if Arob is healthy and running well in a close game, it's not a bad idea to work Woody in for some carries. He certainly looked good enough to earn that.
It keeps Arob fresh and energized and gives the defense a change of pace to catch them off guard. Woody seems like a real north/south runner who could compliment Arob this year and Shontrelle next year.
AA's accuracy is not good. He puts way too much zip on a 5 yard slant. He is lucky he can run for 50 yards a game because he is not a good passer. This offense is designed to complete a high percentage of passes so the 60% completion on his career may be a bit higher than his actual effectiveness in the offense.
I would be all for Tiller getting at least one drive a game to keep his spirits up. He seems like he knows what to do and has control of the offense when in the game. We don't beat Nebraska last year with AA taking snaps. He plays like a 5th year freshman.
We need to experiment for the future after what we have seen in three games.
Let them start on saturday and send a messge to AA and Arob that your starting positions are earned not given to.
Time for hope and change.
Arob does not run hard this year. Its like he is trying to make big plays by dancing around to make people miss. Woody goes at them and forces his way down the field. Put Woody in because the A-Rob we all loved is gone. But now the woody we love is here and ready to go.
Time to platoon to keep the running momentum while we figure out how to pass the ball.
Nebraska is thriving under the play of their new freshmen QB. The Nebraska coaches don't seem to be afraid of hurting anyone's feelings on the team by not starting their upperclassmen.
I'm not saying we have a better alternative than AA, but I'm not sure how we can have anyone much worse either?
I really, really hate saying this, but I was hoping yesterday that the coaches would have just told AA to sit out the rest of the game and rest his elbow/shoulder. I wanted to see more of Tiller... just to see what we have?
But Woody won't get stopped for no gain as often as ARob either. On some of Woody's runs yesterday, ARob probably would have been arm tackled while Woody runs through those.
They are totally different backs. I love them both. But right now we aren't blowing open any huge holes, so Woody needs more carries IMO.
Woody and Tiller are reasons to look forward to next year. I agree that Woody should get more carries.
Everyone can go ahead and get off of ARob.......until our passing game starts clicking, he will be the focus of every defense.
I will chime in boys.....arob runs to seams and trys to avoid contact to get more yards, while woody runs thru the holes to contact and then trys to run thru contact for more yards....two different styles and I dont have a problem with either.
Arnaud throws one kind of pass and its on a flat line and thats why when he missed arob down the middle it was long, had arnaud underthrew the ball just a little it would have been a touchdown and an overtime game.
Tiller is a much better touch passer, and a much better long passer than AA will ever be.
Since AA and the offense has only averaged 16 points per game so far this year, I would give Tiller a legit chance to win some games because at least fairunts and snider have aa figured out and if they can do it so can the rest of the big 12 coaching fraternity....
