Where to pick up the "makeup win."

I had ISU at 5-7 in my preseason projection, with a win over KSU.

I think a lot of people who expected between 5 and 7 wins had this as a swing game.

So my forecast has to drop back to 4-8 for now. I'm sure 7-5 advocates think 6-6 is more in line.

What single game can get it back in kilter?

I have a hunch now about Missouri. But a lot of things could change between now and November. It might be different if that game came within the next week or two.

I'm trying to stay positive, because I assumed anything less than 4-2 in the first half of the season was going to make a bowl bid extremely tenuous. And right now, 3-3 is genuinely possible as a high-side.

I do, however, think ISU should be able to beat Utah at home. I'm just not counting on it.

I had us 6-6 with a win vs KSU and a loss to MU.
After seeing MU squeak by tonight, I think IF we have 5 wins going into the MU game, I think we win that game for our 6th. Senior day, bowl eligibility, etc.
Notice, I said IF we have 5 wins going into the Mizzou game.

3-1 in non-conference would absolutely get this team back in shape. Forget that K. State loss and hit the restart button on conference play to pick up 3 wins of the following 4: Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas Tech. Definitely could be done, just need to see some of that Paul Rhoads "continuous improvement"

I was in the range from 7-5 to 5-7. I think 5-7 is much more likely with this loss.

Sad to say, but I am predicting 3-8 with the final 2 wins over UNI and KU. For some reason I don't feel good about the Colorado game at Boulder or Mizzou at home.

Have you seen ISU play? I see them picking up a win vs UNI and that might be it.

If it makes you feel any better, I view Utah as a loss for sure. At this point, I feel the only solid win left on the schedule is UNI, and even that makes me nervous.
