AA has stunk this year, there is no question there. Whether it is his fault, the staffs, or level of competition, who knows, but that is not up for debate. We cannot do anything about the level of competition we are going to have to face, so one of two things has to happen. Give AA some plays he can feel comfortable with and succeed with, or give somebody else a look, because sticking with what we are doing is not working and is not going to work.
It would be similar to Chizik and his refusal to do anything about safety play his first year. Teams would simply march right down the middle of the field on us and score at will. Repeatedly, with no adjustments by us. Opposing teams said they saw more complex defensive schemes in high school.
If CPR and his staff don't make some huge adjustments over the next 2 weeks while there is still time to salvage something out of this system, then I will be severely disappointed and will have t evaluate what I think of CPR, and if last year actually was simply weak opponents and luck. And I would hate to do that, because I still think the world of CPR and think he is a long term answer for us as fb coach. I hope he proves me right.
CPR i think is the right man for this program...he needs to take the blinders off and think of the future of the program... the only way we get top recruits is with wins!! Herman needs to play to the players strengths as he builds them into his system, only time will tell... I think the whole O is getting tired of getting beat up when they know they can win. Remember this when one player is playing bad on the O & D it affects the whole team!! Morale is a big issue i think right now with ISU!

Re: Arnuad to Start - Tiller to likely play...
This reeks of what we saw last year. My guess is Arnaud is hurt, or at least his health is being evaluated, and Tiller will play if he isn't 100%. If Arnaud's 100%, he'll start.
It's smart, because it will force UNI to prepare for 2 guys.

We will beat UNI by running the ball and running it some more.

Has he really had enough of a sample size for us to know what he can do in game situations? On the other hand I have seen quite a large sample size of what Arnaud can do and he has not set the world on fire. Yes, Arnaud has had a couple good games, a bunch of mediocre games, and far too many downright pathetic games. I think I am safe in saying that Arnaud isn't getting the job done. As for Tiller I can't say that he wouldn't get the job done because we haven't seen enough of him to know what he could do. As stated before:
Stop that.

Re: Arnuad to Start - Tiller to likely play...
I'm not 100% sold on Arnaud, but I trust CPR. If he says that Arnaud is heathy, and that he's the starter, CPR knows what he's doing. I think our O-line needs to play a lot better, and the wide receivers need to start living up to the hype. Where's Sed. Johnson and Darius Reynolds? Seems like Williams, Darks, and Franklin catch a few, but the deep guys need to get open and beat some people, and the line needs to sustain blocks longer than 2 seconds. I think a QB change at this point is moot, cause if CPR thought it'd help you'd see it happen fast. Coaches don't like losing any more than the rest of us.

Hate to break it to you genius, but posts on this website and votes over the internet don't represent anything other than most of us need to get a life. We make up a very small percentage of the fans. That is like thinking those wack jobs that post comments on the Register represent everyone in Des Moines.

Re: Arnuad to Start - Tiller to likely play...
If Arnaud is able, he'll play. I almost guarantee you that the only reason Tiller sees the field is because AA isn't 100% and the staff feels comfortable letting Tiller run the show a little to let AA rest. And I'd assume this would be with ISU comfortably leading.
That all being said, I would just like to see a consistent game plan which sticks with the strengths of our players and tries to stay creative. I feel like I see flashes of it from Herman's playcalling, but being a little more consistent about it would help our offense, I think.

Re: Arnuad to Start - Tiller to likely play...
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. I am fully behind CPR and I disagree that Tiller will only see the field if AA is hurt. CPR wants to win, period. As pointed out on another thread, AA ranks as virtually the worst QB in D-1 so far this year and certainly much of that can be blamed on him. CPR will be looking at everything to get the offense more productive, and I think the QB will be one of those things they look at.

If Rhoads thinks it's best to rest Arnaud for healing purposes, I trust he'll do it.
However: If this does happen, and Tiller has a Dan Fouts type of day, I hope Cyclones fans don't read too much into it and say it "proves" Tiller should become the starter. Because it's UN-freaking-I.
As much as I'd like to see whether Tiller can add life to the offense, this game is no proving ground. If anything, it would give him another game to develop rhythm for the future.

Re: Arnuad to Start - Tiller to likely play...
I think AA should start....but it is sounding like he might not be 100%. Tiller needs to get a good look in the UNI game.
These next three games mean everything for the season. EVERYTHING. I really want to see us blow out UNI. If Tiller is fantastic, when he gets in and out-shines AA....even against UNI....I say give him a shot to play more against Tech, possibly start that game. (But only if it is a significant amount of time against UNI.) Really, this is Tiller's big chance to prove that he is the guy. He needs to be incredible....and if that does happen, it would be time to sit AA.
We need to crush UNI and feel good about a win again. Then, the team needs to start playing with that chip on our shoulder again and pull off two huge upsets at home against Tech and Utah now. Would be incredible wins for this program at home....and give us a chance at a bowl. Gotta win these games. Maybe Tiller's presence is what the doctor ordered? Time will tell.
