Practice Report: Back on track
Here's a report on today's practice. Austen did participate and it was one of ISU's best practices of the year according to CPR. Iowa State Football Practice Report: Back on track | Cyclone Fanatic -

Great news! I'm glad the players and coaches aren't throwing in the towel and writing off the season to build for the future.

Re: Practice Report: Back on track
The losses haven’t broken our spirit,” Burnham said. “They have come back every Sunday to have a good practice. They came back today and had a good practice. The technique stuff is still not there but they will give us the effort, I don’t have any doubt. They gave us the effort last week. We just missed too many damn tackles.
Amen to that!
Glad to hear the practices are going well, maybe we will see a new team this weekend!!

Is the problem missing tackles or is it being out of position or just plain getting run over?

Re: Practice Report: Back on track
That is very refreshing to read! After all of the negativity (I helped with some of it) it's nice to read that the boys aren't giving in! One thing that our team has more so than any other team is heart!!

If Einstein worked, the team should watch this on Saturday.

Missing tackles are one thing they can coach up though so that's what Wally talks about. It's where we can improve so it's the talking point, but it's not like the tackling is extremely poor and keeping us from being an above average defense.

Did you see how many times our defenders came flying in there with their heads down and completely whiffing??
If you saw in the previous games, the first guy would arm tackle, and either miss, or get pulled along for about 2-3 more yards and then more help would come to bring him down.
It also looked like we were trying to tackle too high. We need to work more on tackling with our bodies, hitting low, and wrapping up.

We need to just come out and stomp a mud hole in UNI's ***.

I hope this isnt like CPR's comment that AA was way better this year.

We heard a whole lot of rainbows and unicorns stuff coming out of practice before the season started. Honestly, I expect that kind of stuff. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter to me as a fan. The only measuring stick that I use is the scoreboard. Saturday, it will either tell me that we are getting the job done or we aren't. I'm not interested in handing out MVP awards to our practice all-stars.
