I liked the fact that he didn't have any turnovers. He also had a big play over the middle to Sed for a nice first down in a critical moment. I like plays like that from a QB. It showed that he has poise at times. Again, not the greatest performance....but the by limiting TO's, it helped our D out as well....ISU went on to win in a dominating fashion. Which is what I hope most of our fanbase was expecting.

I also hope that AA took note on this game as well, because I feel that he will still be a major player for us this season. He just needs to stop missing open receivers and limit the TO's. It should have been a wake up call to him. So I hope, if he does again see some significant time on the field....that he needs to just play and not turn the ball over.

The Tech game means everything for the season right now. This would be a great upset win at JTS and could really build the confidence for this team. The D needs to play excellent for us to win..we need to take chances and blitz their QB early and get in his head......and the O CANNOT turn the ball over at all, plus if we are in scoring position again....the O line can't have penalties..... Herman really needs to dial up a nice called game for us to win. If we can play sound football, and win against a team like Tech.... our guys will get some swagger again.

Question though: Is Tiller starting for the Tech game?
Again, you know the reason he didn't play was due to injury not because he got benched? He will not only be a major player, he will be the starter when he is healthy enough to go.

Did you not see post #45?

Yes I knew that. But during the week, did the coach not say that JT was going to get snaps? That means he got in more time in practice with the 1st unit....which helped him out in the UNI game.

I would normally agree with you but with our defense, we are not going to be able to play the "take care of the ball and play field position" type of game in the big 12.
So its ok to repeatedly turn the ball over as long as it doesn't cost us the game?? Ok....

Jdogg, you are right, I forgot about A&M. But my point still stands...Tiller has been good at protecting the ball while AA has been a turnover machine lately. And its not like AA has been making those throws that Tiller missed on Saturday. If you were at or watched the K-State and Iowa game, AA couldn't hit a receiver if he tried.

I'm fine with AA remaining the starter but if he doesn't stop turning it over, I'm all for a change. And its not like he is making big plays/throws to make up for those turnovers either.

You don't think that the staff knew that AA wasn't completely healthy and should have JT ready to go? I mean AA didn't throw until Tuesday so of course Tiller got more snaps. Rhoads said that they would grade Tiller but his grading alone wouldn't push him to be the starter. A lot has to do with AA's health.
In short, Tiller's play did not elevate him to the starters role.

BTW- Tat 3rd down conversion to Sed, wouldn't have happened if we didn't fake the field goal.

Yes, turnovers are important. What I am pointing out is AA isn't the only reason our offense sucks. Our offense sucks because there is not one single unit that is playing well. Not one.

When AA missed Arob when he was wide open against K-State....that was it for me with him. Plus, he is hurt and not 100% now. I know you love the guy....that is great. But I want to win....and I would rather have a guy in there right now not turning the ball over 2+ times a game with Tiller.

Personally, both are not the answer....but that freaking wide open pass just "burned" most of the fanbase on AA. I want a winner....not a guy that turns it over or can't make a big throw in a big time moment.

No, turnovers are not okay. My point is everyone wants to put all our offensive woes on AA. They want to be able to say AA is the reason our offense sucks. News flash but that isn't he case. AA has not lost us a single game this season. He is not the reason we got our *** handed to us by iowa. He is not the sole reason we lost to KSU. Our WRs get no separation and drop balls. Our OL has been inconsistent blocking and get penalties called as soon as we get into scoring position. Our RBs are missing holes that are there and are going down on first contact. and yes, our QBs miss receivers.

A dropped pass on 3rd down is as bad as a turnover. A penalty that takes us out of scoring position is worse than a turnover because it takes points off the board. Point being, the WHOLE offense has made mistakes and continues to make the same misstakes every single game. All of those mistakes combined, cost us games.

I continually wonder why people don't get on KO more. The guy has had 5 penalties inside our opponents 35. Five. He is turning TD drives into field goals. Did you know we score a TD 100% of the time we get into the red zone and DON't get a penalty? Where as we have only scored a TD 1 time when we have gotten inside the red zone and had a penalty. Looking at that, you can argue KO alone has taken 20 points off the board.

Then why do you prefer the QB that has 1:4 career TD:INT ratio?

I don't "love" AA. I think he has to get better and has faults. I defend him because I think people are MORONS if they think that the problem with our offense is due to AA. Our offense sucks because there isn't one unit that is playing well. You can't tell me you think the WR corp is playing well. How about the OL? How about the RBs? Not one single offensive unit is playing well.

So for about the 100th time, I don't think AA is the best thing since sliced bread. Ithink he needs to improve his decision making and he needs to improve he 15-20 yard throws. In particular, he needs to improve both of those across the middle.

    With that said...
    1. OL- Needs to stop the penalties in scoring position. Needs to hold their block longer in the run game. Needs to be able to protect the QB when the opposing team only rushed 3-4
    2. WR- Need to get better separation by running crisper routes. Need to catch the ball when it hits their hands between the head and knees. Make a play once in a while. I mean make a spectacular catch or make a defender miss. Just once.
    3. RB- Hit the damn hole. The OL isn't as good as last year so when you see a crease, hit it hard and fast. Don't go down on first contact (Woody does both of these ebtter than anyone)
    4. QB-Protect the ball and make good decisions
    5. OC- Work the entire field and have your WRs run staggered routes, Don't be predictable. Go deep just once this season. Just once.
When AA plays good, the OL gets a penalty or the WR drops the ball. when the OL plays well and the WR gets open AA misses him. When AA hits the WR and the WR cacthes the ball, the OL gets a penalty. When the OL protects, and AA hits the receiver, and the receiver catches the ball, they are dropped immediately because of lack of separation. It is the whole offense not working on the same page that is the issue

How about the wide open passes JT missed against UNI? Seriously, do those go to the back of your head and accumulate until he misses one in crunch time? Or do they just not count?

You talk about his poise when he completed the 3rd and long on the TD drive. But you miss the fact that he missed a 3rd and 4 to ARob that caused us to fake a FG in order to extend the exact same drive. And his one pass demonstrates "poise.' yet when Arnaud converst 2 4th and 1s and throws a 20 yards pass on 4th and 8, he has no "poise." Just be consistent.

Just be consistent in your criticism. The biggest ***** people have about AA is his accuracy. Then when his replacelment shows his is worse, the complaints change. And really, JT didn't turn the ball over against UNI but it was UNI and the gameplan wasn't exactly wide open. UNI's pass defense sucks. SUCKS and we got a whopping 93 yards passing. I will wait to see what he does agasint a Big 12 defense week in and week out before proclaiming him "safe with the ball."

I don't care who the quarterback is as long as they win, but this is a really stupid fact. Arnaud has a 2:5 TD:INT ratio this season along with some fumbles I believe.

    Re: I stand corrected

How anyone can think that JT should be starting over Arnaud after Saturday's performance is beyond me to understand. We couldn't generate over a hundred yards of passing offense against the worst passing defense we're going to see all year. It was the worst offensive performance I've seen in years. We won't win a conference game with the offense we saw on Saturday unless we force 5 or more turnovers. I like winning and I hope we win some more but the offense we say on Saturday is not going to win us any games in conference.
I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system.

Call me crazy, but I think that Austen's career ratio of basically 1:1 is much more indicative of his level of play. Even given his two atrocious performances against Iowa, Austen's career ratio is 31:29. If you really think that Austen's 2:5 ratio for the season is more telling than what he's done over the course of his career, then you are placing far too much emphasis on the 3 INT's from the Iowa game. ISU was down 28-0 before he even threw the first INT in the 3rd quarter. Not to mention that the 3 picks came on a 3rd and 9, 3rd and 4, and 4th and 12 (amazingly enough, the 4th and 12 was set up by a 10 yard holding penalty by KO when ISU had the ball on Iowa's 18). When my team is down by 28 in the third quarter of the game, I'm going to cut my QB a little slack for trying to force things on third and fourth down. I'm not saying you can just ignore the fact that he threw 3 INTs against the Hawks, but let's not pretend like those INTs were what put us in a 28-0 hole.
