Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
Given the parking restrictions at the football games, has anyone any experience they'd be willing to share using the Cyride shuttle (parking at K-Mart lot)?

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
I believe we found last week that there's no such thing this year.
We parked downtown and took the Red route to the stadium.

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
That was only for the first game, but it worked well.

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
As stated above the shuttle was only for the first game but the red and blue routes take you near the stadium

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
We parked at K-Mart last Saturday and just walked down South 16th to meet some friends in the Vet Med lot. Easy walk, probably about 7-10 minutes.

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
So, since it's been dry will the grass lots be open tomorrow?

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
I hate to bring this crazy discussion up again but what time will the grass lots open tomorrow? (assuming they are open)

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
I would be shocked if they were closed

Re: Football Parking - Cyride Shuttle
Lots always open 6 hours before kick.

The grass lots will for sure be open, it hasn't rained since last Saturday. Heck, they probably would have been open last Saturday, if it wasn't raining that day.

Since the first game was on a Thursday, school was in session and commuters needed a placed to park. The regular ISC commuter parking lot, however, was closed for the tailgaters.
Since the commuters still needed a place to park for classes that day, #23 Orange was rerouted out to KMart.
This only happens when games are scheduled on school days. On Saturdays, there are no commuters coming in for classes, no #23 Orange Route and, accordingly, no need to run buses out to KMart.
If the Athletics Department wants actual football shuttles out to KMart, they will have to request them and pay for them. Seeing as how CyRide is already short-handed and paying out lots of overtime just to cover their normal schedule, it would be a burdonsome request requiring a hefty fee.

So your saying regular orange route 23 is normally 3 Cy rides making a continuous loop from JTS to Kmart.
Lady driving the bus i rode in on said it was a shuttle they were running for the whole game and an hour afterward.

When games occur on school days (which have only been the Thursday games at the beginning of the season the last few years) The terminus for #23 Orange gets moved to KMart because the Athletics Department closes down the regular commuter lot for the tailgaters.
All driver's are not create equally. Some know more than others. Its also easier to tell people it is a shuttle than go through the whole #23 Orange Route spiel. Most game atendees wouldn't know Orange Route from a hole in the ground, so it becaomes a "shuttle" for them. :)

As did other Cy ride buses. When we got to Kmart one Cy ride had just pulled out and two were sitting in line to pick people up. I'll take your word that orange route changes on certain game days but this sure looked like a shuttle service for that game due to the parking lots.
