Re: Mike & Mike and Sweet Caroline

on second thought, i've never really liked Iowa State's fight song Besides, it doesn't fit with our basketball team... ie: <Hit it hard every yard> And it is one of 3 tunes that all Division one fight songs have arisen from. Therefore its not tradition and it needs to be changed.

Oh, and never play it when we are losing, because that means we like losing.

It was always bad timing to do it then because no one wanted to mellow out to Neil Diamond while watching our team getting their heads kicked in. So far this year, we've always been at least in games or winning the games when they have played it, so it hasn't gotten as much gruff from me thus far.

I don't give a rip what kind of effect it has on the players, fans, coaches, anyone's brother's dogs.....its stupid to play that type of song in a football stadium, period. Like I said, if we're going to play mellow songs, lets just do it all the way through the game. There are many other mellow songs and artists we could hear from to get some variety. I'm sure a good portion of the crowd would enjoy hearing some Frank Sinatra. How about some Neil Young? Crosby Stills and Nash? If we're going to play songs that have no place in a football stadium, lets go all out.

I'm not sure where you're going with the statement that "more people like it." Not sure if you've noticed but its just the student section that likes it, with a smattering of fans in the other sections that might be singing along to it. Certainly not "most."
Are you freaking kidding me? most people sing along. It isn't just the student section. Last year I ddin't get season tickets but instead bounced around different sections throughout the stadium. Every single section I sat in, MOST of the people were on their feet singing along. you are plum crazy if you think it is only the student section
    "Not at the table Carlos."

Is ISU the only school that does this? If not, then keep it going. The Jump Around At Wisconsin is tradition and it is quite a sight on TV. If ISU ever gets consistently good, it would be cool to watch on TV; the whole crowd singing that song.

This is already started, so why change. This is starting to sound like the uniform debate.

For those who hate the song, you seem in the minority, so it looks like you should just assimilate and accept it. I like the song and if did go to games, I would sing along too. So there....

Re: Mike & Mike and Sweet Caroline

Just to clarify why I even originally posted this, it's that the main reason I used to hear arguments against it was because it did the opposite of pumping up the team. Since the two positions that would know the most about that (a head coach and a former player that played one of the most grueling positions) have not agreed with that sentiment, does that mean that the argument is now changing to you being against it because it makes you personally feel stupid?
