ISU won't and to answer the question this team shouldn't.
The team has a lot more to prove before they should be getting any serious votes.

Re: If we beat Utah, should we crack top 25?
We're not going to go from getting zero votes to having enough votes to be in the top 25 by just beating Utah. I doubt it would happen if we were to beat Alabama this weekend. The soonest it would happen would be after next weekend if we beat both Utah and Oklahoma in back-to-back weeks. But we have no chance by just beating Utah.

Why does everyone want KSU to be Nebraska? We need Nebraska to win so we can then beat them and take the North Title.
Or for some reason is my thinking backwards here.
And can we get a Kool-Aid man icon?

Re: If we beat Utah, should we crack top 25?
It's great when people chime in on hypothetical threads telling us not to put the cart in front of the horse.
C'mon people, that's exactly the point of a hypothetical topic. No one is saying we are going to beat Utah, then Oklahoma, and then Texas. But we're 3-2 right now and it's fun to THINK about what COULD happen in the future given certain events.
Don't come preaching to others that they shouldn't be talking about it, unless you are preaching to the players and coaches.

Re: If we beat Utah, should we crack top 25?
ISU would get votes, but it'd probably hurt Utah's ranking more than it would help ISU's. Just the way things are.
I could see Utah dropping at least 5 spots with a loss (depending on what other teams below them do, of course). It wouldn't be seen as a bad loss, necessarily, but if you couple it with the fact it means Utah would have no real quality wins, several teams ranked lower in one or both polls would probably jump ahead (Arkansas, Arizona (now 11th in USA today poll), Miami, Iowa, Michigan State.
Also, I think it's wrong to claim the OP was overzealous by posing the question. The answer to 'should we be top 25?' is realistically 'no,' but it's just a what-if.
It'd be different if the post was "If ISU beats Utah, it should bring a top 25 ranking."

Re: If we beat Utah, should we crack top 25?
You know I enjoy speculating about how many more games we will win/what our ranking could be if we win rather than going "are we going to win ANY more games this year?" it's a sign of a winning culture (at least in MY opinion).
To be fair, though I think Utah is winnable and I don't have high hopes for our B12 south road test (OU and UT) I think though after that our last 4 games are winnable. The NU game will definitely be an upset if we win, but I think they lost their "revenge" angle as soon as they jumped ship to the B10-ish. I don't blame them for jumping to the B10 because the money is significantly better, I just wish they would have been honest about it and said something along the lines of "Hey...money is really really better over there even though we were sorta the cause of the ****ed up money situation here. glhf"
If any players read this...yeah just focus on preparing for Utah, we'll worry about the future games, it's our job.

And can we get a Kool-Aid man icon? The reason why I want K-State to beat Nebraska is because I don't want Nebraska waltzing off to the Big 10 with a cabinet full of Big 12 championship hardware. On top of that, even with OU and Texas down, I don't think our odds of winning the North are that great. Which means I'll even cheer for K-State to win the North if it means Nebraska is embarrassed on their way out of the conference.

Nebraska will very likely beat us.

Seriously? Are you nuts? Top25, when we got absolutely embarrassed by Iowa?

not a chance we crack the top 25 with a win this weekend. not a chance.
