Re: Utah - Best team I've ever seen at Jack Trice
And in case anyone's wondering what I'm doing posting on a Cyclones board this late on a Saturday night, my girlfriend went dancing with the girls and I've had "a few". Time for a little schadenfreude. Sorry. You guys are probably the most gracious fans of any team we've ever played and I mean that sincerely. Only Alabama fans come close.
Drunken side note:
After we stomped Alabama it was surreal. Everybody in the country was trying to downplay the win except Alabama fans. Everyone was saying Alabama "didn't want to be there", would "win 9 times out of 10", etc., except Alabama fans. Alabama fans kept saying that Utah is better than Florida and Utah should win the MNC, etc. It was so weird how everyone defended Alabama except Alabama. Talk about bias! I won't be surprised if 2 or 3 teams jump Utah this week and we fall in the rankings. Maybe Utah will get some respect when we're PAC-12.

Hey, I can't be right all the time Alright, I'll settle on that. Just a little worked up after the game is all.
I should probably take my own advice and put the beer down as well and go to bed.

I need to get around to having a DVR by the time you play Oregon for the first time next year. That should be an exciting, incredible game. Maybe even the start of an epic conference rivalry.
Really, that game is must-see TV.

You had more players drafted last year than ISU has had this decade and a fraction of our (already pathetic) athletic budget.

Last year was definitely a watershed in year in terms of the draft for us, we knew we had a few keepers, but I don't think anybody really expected that many to be selected. 6 players were drafted, more than any non-AQ has ever had drafted I believe, and we were only beat by teams such as Texas, Alabama, Florida, etc. 5 of our last 6 starting cornerbacks have been selected in the draft as well.
Sorry if I seem like I am coming on here and just bragging about how good our program is, but it can be very frustrating when the National Media refuses to acknowledge you. Tonight is a perfect example. On ESPN as they went through all the highlights, they have detailed analysis and footage of all top ten teams but stop at #9. No mention of how Utah did except for a quick score. It seems like no matter what we do or accomplish (2 BCS Bowl wins, top ten rankings, best record for a non-AQ against BCS opponents, NFL Draftees, etc.) we don't get recognition or respect. Utah has been blackballed by the Media for some reason and everyone is just hoping it changes when we join the PAC 12.

Hey Baron, I thought Utah should have been national champs a couple of years ago, I thought you were screwed.

Re: Utah - Best team I've ever seen at Jack Trice
Utah had the best offensive and special teams I've seen since the Switzer and Osborne Era.
And yet their fans were pretty cool.

Yes, Utah was good, but to say they were the best team you have ever seen is a little unreal. Have seen 10 teams better and have only been going to games for five years. Utah is a midmajor school. A good one, but not a world beater. We played like ******* **** today.

All the people ******** and moaning need to relax. This game had ZERO to do with ISU being an average team. This was 100% about Utah being UNBELIEVABLE. Accept it and quit complaining. tOSU, Alabama, OU, etc. WOULD NOT hang 68 on us in our own stadium - period. The only other team that could possibly would be Boise State - maybe. Utah is unbelievable.
If this Utah team wins out and doesn't get a chance to play for the BCS title it's an absolute travesty.
Go Cyclones. I definitely think Utah's the most complete team I've ever seen at Jack Trice in all three phases of offense, defense and special teams.

Re: Utah - Best team I've ever seen at Jack Trice
I would like to think that Utah is world beaters and a number one contender .... basically how I felt after the Iowa game... If they go on to crush everything in their path I will feel much better. Having said that, usually after games like this the team that looks like world-beaters against us suddenly gets beat by a mid level team.

Re: Utah - Best team I've ever seen at Jack Trice
On an interesting psychological side-note, it's fascinating to me to see in general how bitchy, pissy and angry this board gets after games like last night compared to how happy this board was last week after beating Texas Tech. Comments like (and I'm paraphrasing here) "You're so stupid for feeling the way you do!", "You don't know jack about football!", and "You're an idiot" provide for some dark humor for me reading it. Not calling anybody out in particular, it's just human nature I guess to be all uptight after getting taken out behind the woodshed like that. I remember after we lost to Alabama in a very close bowl game back in 2001 (Independence Bowl) that a lot of Cyclone fans commented on how gracious and kind Alabama fans were at the bowl game, which is pretty cool. Just as a fan I'm getting sick of the SEC and their constant need to tell the rest of us how great they are all the time (alright, alright, we get it already, you're good!), but at least it seems that Crimson Tide fans know how to conduct themselves with class. Sorry if I seem like I am coming on here and just bragging about how good our program is, but it can be very frustrating when the National Media refuses to acknowledge you. Just to play the devil's advocate, I have to wonder if you didn't get much coverage from last night just because the game was a complete and utter shellacking. And, unfortunately, I think that population (or lack of it) does have something to do with it. Back when ISU had a pretty decent basketball program I felt that we good the short end of the stick sometimes as well from The Worldwide Leader in terms of media coverage.

I thought I heard mention by some media munchkin that Utah plays Notre Dame this year or was I just hearing things? West coast teams (and Utah falls in this category) generally prevail over midwest teams due to speed at the skill positions. If you noticed with all the opportunities we had on ko returns, our fastest players Johnson, Lenz, Reynolds, Sims fielded balls on the 5 and usually did not make it to the 20. And their receivers and returners had their way with us. Utah was far superior at the skill positions (accurate passing comes to mind) but I hold off any annointment about where they rate on a national scene until they play someone like TCU or in a bowl. No doubt they are very good but hwo have they played at this point in the season? I thought so.
