Still not sold on Oklahoma
I will probably eat my words after this weekend but I have never been sold on Oklahoma being a BCS title contender and a lot of it has to do with their defense. Currently their defensive rankings are
Rush defense- 79th
Pass efficiency defense- 51st Total defense- 93 Scoring Defense-56
They have one impressive win against FSU but other than that, they have played close games against Texas, Utah St, Air force, and Cincinnati allowing teams to come back in the second half. Cincinnati threw an INT in the end zone, fumbled a punt on their own 7 and then fumbled on OUs 5 yard line.
This is not OU's typical defense. It looks as though they can be run on and teams can move the ball against them. Of course, I expect to see a large dose of Demarco Murray run right at us and we won't be able to do anything about it.
In the end, I am not predicting a win here and expect us to lose but OU's defense gives a little bit of hope

What we need to worry about is their rush offense. Im not scared of Jones. Next week looks like it could set up like the TTU game again.

I think you will eat your words. Hope I'm wrong though.

I remember a certain thread last week titled "Not Sold On Utah."

I sort of remember a lot of people (including me) had this kind of thinking before the Utah game as well.
But hey, I'm with you, brau! I like the positive, never-say-quit attitude.

Remember how a lot of people weren't sold on Utah? Yeah, how'd that work out for us?

Re: Still not sold on Oklahoma
To be honest Utah was a totally different creature and atypical compared to Big XII programs...
I hear a lot of never's and always lose's... if you ever want that cycle to end there has to be a first and honestly OU and Texas look a lot more probable upsets than Nebraska this year.
I don't think I am being delusional when I say you can steal one of these two games...
Just please stop with the absolute negative statements and try a "I think it's not probable, but definitely possible"...

In the end, I am not predicting a win here and expect us to lose but OU's defense gives a little bit of hope Here are the numbers you should worry about:
ISU 63rd rushing offense v. Oklahoma 79th rushing D
ISU 96th passing offense v. Oklahoma 51st passing efficiency D
ISU 69th scoring offense v. Oklahoma 56th scoring D
ISU 93rd total offense v. Oklahoma 93rd total D
Oklahoma 90th rushing offense v. ISU 102nd rushing D
Oklahoma 17th passing offense v. ISU 72nd passing efficiency D
Oklahoma 38th scoring offense v. ISU 88th scoring D
Oklahoma 40th total offense v. ISU 97th total D
Oklahoma is down on D this year and ISU can score points on them, but on the other hand Oklahoma is going to score a lot as well.

It's clear who the better team is, and the odds are against us, but they were against us with Nebraska last year, too.

Oklahoma has its redeeming qualities ... bottom of the article - right side. Big State Contest -
Re: Still not sold on Oklahoma
We'll beat oklahoma, and texas. And then turn around and lose the rest of our games.

I am not predicting a win at all, just pointing out some facts

Re: Still not sold on Oklahoma
I am not sold of OU as a national contender, but they will kick the crap out of ISU. The thing that I have never understood about OU under Stoops is that they will look great during the season and get into a BCS bowl game and then lay an egg. It is almost like when every other team is getting ready for the bowl game, OU is out drinking beer and chasing woman.
