Re: Would attendance be higher if ISU was in the Big 10?
It just amazes me how idiotic some people are on this board and how many people throw personal attacks at people, especially when they dont even know who they are throwing the attacks at. At this point mods might as well close the thread, I just wonder why people waste the time to read the thread and post crap about it.

What would help Florida State? They have row after row of people that look just like white bleachers.

NW 2009 average attendance: 24,190, 51.3% capacity.
Indiana 2009 avg. attendance: 41,832, 79.3% capacity.
***I would include Minnesota here, but they reported every game as a sellout last year with the new stadium, so those are skewed.
ISU 2009 avg. attendance: 46,242, 84.1% capacity.
We also outdrew 4 ACC teams and 4 Big East teams (This was quick research, I didn't get to SEC or Pac 10 numbers)
If your team has been a perennial cellar dweller (as ours has for most of history), you don't build a huge fanbase. What conference you play in matters little to none. If Iowa State were to experience consistent success for a decent period of time (more than 2-3 years at a time), you would see increased attendance. Big East, Pac 10, Big 12, Big Ten, whatever.
Green hills for thy throne, and for crown a golden melody/Ringing in the hearts of all who bring thee love and loyalty/Dear Alma Mater, make our spirits great True and valiant like the bells of I-O-WA STATE!
And thank you Stumpy for this: -

I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -

Attendance Isn't Rocket Science!!!!
ISU's attendance woes comes back to 1 thing. Lack of a Winning Tradition!!!!!
If ISU can put together 3-5 years of 6+ wins- we will draw more than 50k fans to the Jack.
Iowa can attract 75k to Kinnick for home games because they have 30 solid years of a winning tradition. They had a couple bad years in the late 90's- but that was it. Think about it- 7000 students enrolling at Iowa each fall times 30 years = 210,000 people who had a positive gameday experience. One just has to go back to the 2000 season when Iowa averaged 61k at Kinnick and I remember non-con games where they only got around 55k.
What has ISU done in the last 30 years? A couple OK years in the early 80's and maybe 3-4 OK years during Mac's tenure.

Why do you put stuff up like this. I mean say what you want, but in the thread title?

Wanna draw fans? Compete. Win. And don't have a QB that overthrows open receivers.
