HA HA HA I can't help but laugh at this...I think we could actually be successful with this style of play. You just have to redefine successful a little bit.

Did you hear the announcer say he would love to play for our Coaches any day.
Chris has a great site, don;t ruin it. I agree with this. Tonight's game went about how I expected it to. They just have way more talented players than we do. It's pretty simple really. Our D-line is completely outmatched and generates no pass rush, allowing Jones to sit back and have plenty of time to throw. OU also has more athletic receivers than what we have in our secondary. Jeremy Reeves is pretty much outmatched against anyone he covers, O'Connell is at a huge athletic disadvantage back there as well, and with plenty of time to throw Jones is going to find someone open, therefore you see the video game type numbers he put up tonight.
Then when we have the ball whoever is playing QB for us is under a lot of pressure and has to quickly get rid of the ball to a highly covered receiver that can't gain any separation, plus we can't get enough o-line push to run the ball very well. That makes it very difficult to put together a drive.
We had no chance in this one. I thought the team actually played pretty well given their talent level compared to OU's. It's a much different story when we play teams with less talent than OU, but until we get a lot more better athletes and linemen this is going to be how games go against highly ranked teams (unless we force 8 turnovers).

Re: ***Official ISU-Oklahoma Postgame Thread***
I cannot believe ISU has such a HORRIBLE d line and have had this issue for years. ISU does not have a single guy on the d line that would be in the 2 deep on any Big 12, Big 10, or SEC conference. How is that possible? UNI has better d-line than ISU. Stuff like that should not be happening and it is inexcuseable.

Re: ***Official ISU-Oklahoma Postgame Thread***
Anyone want another sobering statistic?
OU beat its first five opponents by a combined 50 points.
I want somebody to convince me that Utah & OU are three times better than anyone else on the schedule the rest of the year. If so, I can probably absorb these last two weeks and hope for a couple more wins and at least one other semi-competitive loss.

Yeah, you kick the students out, but why not at least, try to work that as an away game every year. Or God Forbid, we actually start really winning games some time and instead of people going out of town for Thanksgiving weekend, they are coming to Ames to watch some real football.
I don't get our scheduling this year at all. I wish the NCAA would enforce mandatory Bye weeks. It would give us an extra week of practice which we need.

#5 Nebraska
#21 Mizzou
Hopefully the future schedules will get better in the GPC with a bye week and the round-robin schedule. Iowa is at the top of their cycle and will be down for a while starting next year. ISU should never again play a Utah type non-conference game. Plus, not playing Baylor and A&M this year is a huge disadvantage. Ready to drop the Iowa game because they should be good for a long time?

Sadly, it appears we are choosing iowa.

Iowa historically has peaks and valleys just like any other team. Right now they are in a peak, but next year will be a much different story. Iowa is losing a ton of players off their 2-deep. They will have a couple of season of 6-8 wins followed by a couple of seasons of 9+ wins. Thats just how college football works.

Maybe change the scheme to fit the players we have currently, but the scheme has proven to work, need to get the correct players in there.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
