No bye week

Could someone in the know tell me how this happens? We are a very young team with little depth, and not having that off week will cost us when we are playing teams we can beat. Does this happen to at least one team every year in the Big 12, or did this get setup to maximize tv appearances or revenue?

I think it was a choice we made because of how bad attendance was on the weekend after thanksgiving.

I believe it was because we moves the kstate game for arrowhead both years

I think the past 2 years we were supposed to play KSU Thanksgiving weekend, but we moved the game up to our bye-week so we could play at Arrowhead...

The Arrowhead story is false. Our "bye week" (if you want to call it that) was always scheduled for the weekend of Thanksgiving.

Its by choice. JP doesn't want Thanksgiving games due to poor attendance, so ISU is one of the few teams in the country to play 12 straight games.

Thank god JP wont have a choice in the GPC.

Only 8 teams in all of D1-A don't have a bye week and play 12 straight games. ISU and Baylor are the only 2 BCS schools.

ISU, Baylor, UTEP, Temple, Ball State, Air Force, Colorado State, and Wyoming.

Oh, and by the way, the Great Plains Conference thing? Not digging it. Firstly because a Great Plains Conference already exists.

even though right now our team would benefit immensly from having one? seriously-these guys need a week off. to many players playing to many downs. a week off would do our defense good.

Pretty sure Coach Rhoads said not to long ago that he doesn't like bye weeks.

In Big 12 play, ISU had a bye week from 1996 to 2005. From 2006 to 2010, ISU has had one bye week in 2008 after UNLV and before Kansas.

Its no coincidence that JP started in 2005 and bye games ended that same time.

Edit: Even in the last 5 years of the Big 8 ISU had a bye week.
