I'm not disagreeing with the decision, my point was that people better get out to this game on the 30th, especially those who complain about night games. If they don't, then we've just needlessly passed up on an opportunity for more TV exposure. The difference will be 5,000 paying customers IMO. 40-43k vs 35-38k. With no revenue from showing it on TV with FCS along with beggar's night being that evening in DSM, it is the best bet by the AD to maximize whatever we can for that day. It's a no brainer.

Re: Kansas Gametime set for 1pm.
Is Halloween on Saturday night in Iowa this year? I bet that had something to do with the game time. What an idiotic thing not having trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Whoever made that change...you failed.

And I agree, in that case it makes sense. What I'm worried about is what happens if 38k show up on the 30th anyway AND we don't have the game on TV. Hopefully that won't happen, but college football fans can be fickle.

Don't forget it's the first game of the 3-game mini packs as well. That should boost attendance I would think.

I think no matter what you maximize your revenue with the 1pm selection and that is why it is the smartest play by the AD.

I agree with Jamie on getting this at 1. Just like having the thursday kickoff to the season, it works for some, but not for others, so its not something we should do every year. Having 6pm kicks works for some, but there is a segment of the season ticket holder base that is going to have problems with any specific slot, so having the same kick time several games in a row can turn off a significant portion.

Many times it comes later in the season when ISU isn't playing for as much anymore. Iowa-MSU will likely be a battle of two top 10 teams. Many middle of the road fans will be there over ISU vs Kansas.

Re: Kansas Gametime set for 1pm.
Can someone direct me to the thread(s) re. the negatives of the 6 o'clock start times? What can people possibly complain about. I understand the beef with Thurs games, but who cares what time the game will be on Saturday. With tailgate included its full day commitment whether it starts at 11 or 6. What gives?

FCS doesn't pay, and their 100 viewers aren't going to give that much additional exposure to ISU. Taking the daytime start and the boost to the game attendance is a no-brainer.
CloneZone might be out because of the Big 12 current agreement with ABC/FSN, as a 1:00 PM start would overlap with the 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM games...

I'm guessing many a Husker fan snatched up the 3 game mini-pack in hopes of selling the other 2 games to offset the cost. I expect a large turnout of NU fans on Nov 6.

Typically i would bet the best attendance in september is for the night games, and as it gets colder into mid-late october and november, your best attendance would be afternoon games as the night games can get bitterly cold.

Some of us don't live within 30 miles of Ames. That means we get home around 1 or 2am from a 6pm kickoff. My 3 kids age 3 or under don't care what time I get home, they still wake me up before 7am.
