Re: Did Coach Rhoads have heart to heart with Coach Herman?
They definitely had a talk indicated by Rhoad's post game interviews and radio show. I think Herman just needed a little wake up call and he's good to go now.
Need constant wrinkles and tweaking in today's college fb.

I think Herman did a much better job of putting the players in a position to be successful by calling a great set of plays on 1st down.

Did he really call a different game, or was it the kids just executed more consistently? He's not a bad OC because they don't get first downs... the kids have to make the blocks and catches and runs etc... Not sure Herman did anything different other than the kids executed.

Personally I thought Rhoads was being sarcastic when he made that comment and wasn't being serious.

Re: Did Coach Rhoads have heart to heart with Coach Herman?
In watching the replay (after seeing the whole game live), so two views, Lapham put up the stat that we were 5 for our last 29 third down conversions. That's not 5 of 29 third and longs, that's 5 for 29 of any distance. You have to do better than that and I'm sure the HC told the OC that very thing.

he called a flea flicker. That was different. But otherwise, I'd say it was more of the O-line opening up holes for ARob and then Arnaud connecting on a few good passes. Heck, some of those passes: Darks on the sideline, Jake W comeback catch and Lenz leaping catch... they weren't really open (Lenz maybe a little).

I heard CPR say this as well and when I read Ben Bruns excellent treatise on play calling and what changed in the Texas game. My first thought was back to this comment by CPR. Admittedly it is reading between the lines but I think there likely was a come to Jesus meeting about play calling and Herman listened.
