Re: Mack Brown Unbelievable Quotes
Mack Brown is the primary reason Texas is "Texas" right now. He's just fine. The guy won a national title recently and played for it last year. It's difficult to sustain that high of success EVERY year. I'm sure they'll be back in the title hunt next year or the year after.

Tackles doesn't equal great players. They're average. They still run themselves out of a LOT of plays. They are forced to make plays because the line is so bad.

**** Texas. They deserve to not even go to a bowl after this summer.

While I won't argue that our linebackers and safeties have better tackling stats because of our line play, you can't discount that Knott, Klein, and Sims are having a hell of a season. They and their supporting cast are the reason we are .500 right now. Every one of those three are having all Big XII caliber seasons.

**** Texas. They deserve to not even go to a bowl after this summer. They'd have 4 or 5 losses with our schedule, it was not fluke. No way they beat Utah, 90% chance Iowa gets them, Oklahoma we know they lose to, Kstate gets them since Kstate handled UCLA who they couldn't, TTech gives them a close game.

So, what you are saying, is that Mack Brown is just like most ISU fans...just go look at MBB last year...a very large percentage of our fan base put all of the blame on our players and some were even still trying to put blame on Wayne Morgan...everyone one but our high paid coach was the problem.
You may have been one of the minority like me that places responsibility with the head coach but, if not, be careful of casting stones while living in a glass house.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Re: Mack Brown Unbelievable Quotes
Mack Brown is not a coach. He is a recruiting genius. Come down here and talk to some HS players and listen to how they absolutely WORSHIP the man - win or lose. CPR and staff could only wet dream the 4-star TX podunk town talent that would rather sit on the bench in DKR than start every game in Jack Trice (well, and the Austin/campus nightlife over Welch Ave. probably helps recruiting a bit frankly )
Let's hope this win gave some of that TX talent a moment of pause. Now it's up to CPR to get down to this state ASAP with Uhlenhopp, Herman, and maybe Bray in tow and start picking off these 4-stars. I won't even dream of a 5-star right now. Sorry, but you just can't progress a program with a bunch of cornfed boys and maybe a few Lonestar scrubs ...

I go to Friday night football games in Austin most weekends with my ISU gear on to make sure players and just as importantly parents see that ISU is supported everywhere.
If you (by you, I mean anyone, not just you AustinCy) are looking for something to do on a Friday night, head out to a high school game and do your part to show the country and recruits that ISU is an option and there is national support for the program. Just don't talk to the recruits please and get ISU in trouble with the NCAAssholes.

Not hard to be a recruiting genius when you wear a burnt orange Nike polo with a white longhorn head silhouette (or vice versa) stitched to it. I'm not so much it's Brown that the HS students worship, but UT that they worship. It seems like every Texas kid dreams of one day playing college football in Austin, and are sending their highlight videos in with hopes of being one of the lucky 25 or so annually selected to don the burnt orange and white.
In other words, it's easy to look like a recruiting genius when recruiting in the first place resembles more of a draft of the best high school players the entire state of Texas has to offer...

Mack Brown seems to be the prototypical "CEO" head coach. He seems to delegate everything to his assistant coaches and his job is to work with the coaches, not the players. I find it humorous that many of his responses to reporters questions were, "Ask Will/Greg."
I have a feeling that Mack has been delegating too much and letting Greg Davis call all the plays with no oversite from him.
UT is not handling the transition from having a perennial Heisman contending QB in Colt McCoy to finding out what Gilbert does well and game planning around it.
In years past, if UT got down, they could depend on McCoy to lead the drives to get them back in it.
I have a distinct feeling that Greg Davis will be looking for a new job after this year. Of course, he has been with Mack since UNC, so if Mack doesn't want to make the move we may be seeing the start of the HC Will Muschamp era next year. It will be interesting to watch.
All in all, I think Mack Brown has been a good coach and excelled at being the CEO for a team loaded with talent. Now that they are facing some adversity I think he is out of his comfort area.
There aren't many teams, if any, with more talent than UT. I think if they had a great coach they would probably have won a lot more national titles since 1998.
