They should just make something that can be turned into a bowl.
You won't be able to begin a structure that would help in bowling in the south end zone until you actually had all of the plans and engineering/designing in place for the project. And then you are talking about two phases, which actually cost more than one phase which is why they are going to begin this whole process anyway...
Remember the key to removing the south end zone scoreboard is to allow the bowling of the south end zone to occur in one off-season and in one phase, not in two phases and during two off-seasons. So it is almost a definite that they will remove the south end zone scoreboard.
Yes the sound system will be updated with this and it will be over top of the Jacobsen building. They are still going over designs because that building was not built to support any additional weight. He didn't mention anything about removing the south scoreboard and I don't see why they would.
Trying to coordinate displays on a brand-new, huge HD screen and an old, tiny SD screen seems like it could be problematic.
Leave the current one in place to run Advertisements and Live Stats OR Highlights of our victory vs Texas Use the adverstising money towards Completing the South End Zone project. Hate to admit - when I was in school - it was a hot tub down there, then some shoddy bleachers, then what we have now. Watching the Replays of the 1999 Texas game, it reminded me of how far we have actually come. I am excited to see how far we will have come in another 10 years too Jack Trice Stadium is going to be damn proud of

Reason: Edited out renaming Stadium after reviewing Jack Trice History
I wouldn't mind seeing it left there for the time being and having it just to show stats.
I like the idea if leaving the old scoreboard up there for stats only until we get the south end zone bowled in.
If my calculations are correct assuming it's HD with a 16:9 aspect ratio and roughly 3000 sq. Ft that would put it 75' wide by approx. 40' tall. That's 3.5 stories in height! Would they anchor it on to the glass panels of the Jacobsen Building somehow? Curious if someone has seen a rendering of the proposed location.
I am the one who asked Jamie this question and immediately after hanging up I was kicking my own *** for not finishing the question about the South Endzone especially since that it where the Victory Helmet sits. Luckily several others decided to remind me of this as well right after the question. I guess I will have to stretch out better next time and have myself ready to go.

make notes an rehearse before calling in; breath deep and take your time.
