Re: Ben Bruns: Anatomy of the upset
Great article.....Again. This adds a lot to the site. Thanks Ben.

"My hat is off to the staff "
Love this. Spoken like a true McCarney-era player.

Although that is sort of the human condition. It could be kind of like the "no news is good news" dynamic.
I dont talk to my doctor, mechanic, etc unless something is wrong. That might be a stretch of a comparison, but it might sort of explain the trend you see.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man" -

Re: Ben Bruns: Anatomy of the upset
I thought it sounded familiar...
Alas, Bruns never said we won the second half though.

The team just proved that we wont lose every game until we get 4 and 5 star recruits.

Re: Ben Bruns: Anatomy of the upset
I guess I did not notice that TX was not putting a bunch of people in the box, but that would explain the ability of ISU to suddenly run. OU and Utah really put a lot of guys near the LOS and forced ISU to make them pay, which the did not do.
I expect KU to really stack the box and make AA beat them through the air this week. I have not looked at the stats for the KU defense, but based on the scores, they are no where near as good as OU or Utah, or even Norther IL.

Re: Ben Bruns: Anatomy of the upset
It always kills me when I read/hear about how ISU essentially got intentionally jobbed by the officials because we are perceived as the lessor team. When will we ever get a fair shake? It would be nice to see the B12 come out and support us publicly for once when we get hosed. But noooooo.

I am not talking about those who would post in a thread on how ISU tactically beat UT,
My point is that if your post history only shows that you **** on ISU or post OT, you are confusing being a fan with having an interest. I have an interest in how NU does, and I read their message board, but I am not a fan.

Thanks, Brunsie! Seriously, I feel the same way! Bruns may be smarter than some of the KU staff. Shhh! "I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads -
Re: Ben Bruns: Anatomy of the upset
As I was one of the posters who was most adamant about calling out Ben's work so far as light on analysis and full of fluffy rah rah homerism, I have to say well done to Ben on this one. That is the best post game analysis I have seen on this site from anyone, regular poster or one of the regular writers. Well done, Ben. I enjoyed your insights. This is exactly the sort of stuff that only someone with your background could provide.
I felt like on Saturday ISU finally showed us the football team we have been waiting to see all year on both sides of the ball. And I feel like today I finally saw what I was looking forward to seeing from Ben when he came on here to do this blog. Here's to hoping we can see more of the same from both parties next week! (And at least once more later this season, because I would love to go somewhere warm for the holidays this year!)
