that is just sad. they only have 5 recruits though to our 15. tells you what rivals thinks about the quality of our players. that also puts us in last in the big 12...again. so far anyway.

I don't give a ****. I'll take the 15 players taken by our overachieving coaching staff vs. Colorado's 5 players that are being recruited by a guy that has been a HUGE bust.
Do no stars mean that the players just haven't been rated yet? In that case that's dragging down the rankings.
They also haven't rated 6 of our players yet. Counting them out we have 9 recruits averaging 2.67 stars. This beats Colorado, Baylor, Missouri, Kansas, and K-State in avg stars. Now I realize that it says something that they haven't been rated but the numbers are very skewed.
Quality over Quantity is what rivals is going for. The Colorado recruits have a higher Rivals Rating and therefore more points as a team. If the guys we have are who Rhoads wants, then thats fine with me.
I think the coaching staff is getting a lot of the players that they have targeted and that is really what matters. We are never going to be ranked high and will finish dead last or close to last every year in the conference. As long as they are getting the guys they want, who cares what rivals thinks.
dont we finish every recruiting class at the bottom of the big xii?
Let me ask a question about "Stars". How many stars did our freshmen punter have at this time last year? He seems to be doing a pretty admirable job and I don't recall him being some 4 star recruit. I'd have more faith in our coaching staff's ability to evaluate talent and less on some recruiting service who is trying to evaluate every high school player in country.
This is the site I was told to look at when I was told our recruiting situation was bad.
And in 2006 they ranked us #11 and Texas #1, how did that work out for those seniors?
#11 ISU 28
#1 Texas 21

It doesn't matter since we won't be playing them.
The recruiting rankings are completely subjective too. Its not like one guy is watching every player. Some people have different opinions on what a 3 star player looks like. What one guy considers a 3 star another might consider a 2.
check back in a few years when we are competing for top half of the division, not only will recruiting improve with the more success we have - the opinions of our recruits in the ranking process will improve too! Watch the unranked guys that Iowa recruits and see how many stars they get vs our unranked guys...till then trust that our coaching staff is geting the guys they 1)think they can get and 2) want. It would be different if we were offering all our recruits late in the process because we missed out on 1 and 2.
