The south endzone is elevated so you can at least see down field where we are right on the ground. I know that they don't have the depth but they can still see what is going on where we have obstacles in the way and can't see anything because of the fact we are right on the ground.

The director should be elevated enough to see the board though right? I am sure it sucks but really it is a good thing that is happening.

The drum majors can still see what's going on. I just feel that they should keep the old board in until they start bowling the south endzone so we can still see the game and so we can see what is going on at the far end of the field so we have an idea of when and what we need to play instead of the drum major randomly telling us that we need to play in our eyes.

(I realize you pay tuition and all that, I just mean ticket paying customers.)
The viewing angle for the band will probably be next to impossible for the band members, being up over the jake and all, vs the south end where its much easier to see the video board (ive sat in both places). It will be a completely different experience sitting in the endzone with the current video board, vs sitting where the band does, on ground level.
I dont advocate moving the band right now though, for the reason you said, paying customers are in the south end now. When the south bowl is done, there will be the seats available to move the band and student section there and open the student seats to regular season ticket holders.

The costs of that could be a lot more, having to have controls for 2 video boards running simultaneously, managing different content, as the content from one will not work on the other, etc. Not worth the extra cost for what should hopefully be a short term (few years) situation until we can get the south bowl done.

This is just for the big score board correct?

14 mil on the scoreboard would buy you a very nice scoreboard... i think the godzillatron at texas only cost 8

I'm in the band too, and I play trombone, and there are a few other bandies on here...so, hi!
Second of all, I agree. The real problem (for me) isn't the fact that I can't tell what's going on. I love football and love watching the play develop. the big thing for me is there will be no game clock, down/to go counter, TO counter, etc.
I'd like to see something like the bowled endzone in Kansas, but It'll never happen.
EDIT: Tried to link to a pic but I had some trouble...regardless, they have skinny little ribbon boards in the endzone w/ down to go TO remaining etc.

Pollard is the man, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've had the pleasure of meeting with him, and he does so much with so little.
