What, besides Kool-ade, makes people think that the Nebraska game will turn out any different than the three previous games against top ten teams?
Ask yourself this: Do you think Nebraska would beat Iowa??? Methinks most out there think they would. If you think NU would beat the team that got to play their reserves against ISU, what makes you think ISU would beat them? Or would Iowa beat Nebraska? Either way I think it would be a competitive game.
Just trying to be realistic.
I don't think Nebraska would stay within 10 points of Iowa. Especially in Iowa City.
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
Facing a top 10 team this week. The way this football team has performed against top ten teams the 3 previous times this season (Iowa, Utah, Oklahoma,) being 17 point underdog is way too low.
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
We have a healthier team along with our starting quarterback starting this year going into the Nebby game.
We will still need a lot of breaks/Nebby errors to have chance at the end.

ISU held KU to 9 points and no touchdowns until their 3rd and 4th stringers were in the game on defense.
Typical pompous Husker fan.
How dare you call me a Husker fan!! That is a dirty, rotten, lowdown insult, Sir! Shall it be pistols at high noon! I demand satisfaction!!!! :)
I am quite proud to live and work in Ames and on the University campus! I am only trying to bring some reason and sanity to this discussion. The last three games against top ten teams didn't go so well and I feel expectations are running a bit wild on this board for some. Just want to keep some people off of the ledge after Saturdays game.
I hope there are no hard feelings. ;)
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
I would love to bea able to hang another win over the local husker fans heads this year but I don't see it. I don't know about that spread, although we are obviously capable of losing a game by far more than that. The confidense if there is really much, is odd. We didn't look to dominant over an awful KU team at home and Texas is clearly not very good. Nebbie, on the other hand handed Mizzou their assets.

ISU has improved as the year has gone on, as evidenced by the wins we have. The biggest difference that I see when comparing Nebraska to Utah, Iowa, and OU, is Nebraska is much more one-dimensional on offense with TM at QB. Texas shut down TM, and kept the chains moving with big runs by Gilbert. We certainly can match Gilbert`s output at the QB position, but the real question is can WB get the boys to stop TM? My guess is that WB will let TM throw all day if he wants to, but will sellout to stop the run. Keep in mind that TM is still fairly young, and he is very capable of throwing picks. I envision a much lower scoring game than most people, with field position being key.
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
I'm a little concerned by the big runs Helu was getting against Mizzou. It seemed Mizzou's defense had improved this year, I hope it wasn't just Texas team speed limiting Nebraska.
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
I'm more worried about our offense than our defense. If we start the game with a couple 3 and outs, I fear a blowout.

Agree here. Way too low.
Hope the Clones can find a way to win this one.
Re: Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska
I picked Nebbie to win 42-21, so I think the line is about right.
Nebraska is on a roll and I dont see the Huskers losing another game this season until they get to the Jerry Dome in Dallas, TX.

This. If the game starts out anything like it did against Kansas, Saturday could be a very long day. We've got to put points on the board early. The earlier we can force Nebraska into passing the ball, the better our odds of winning on Saturday will be.

NU had 8 dropped passes atleast 3 of them were touchdowns. I wouldnt say Texas shut him down especially after OSU tried to sellout to the run and he proceeded to run for 100+ then throw for 300+ and 5 td's in the air. We need to play balanced on defense otherwise he can get it done in the air. We need to rely on our Dline to bottle him up and play assignment football. If they dont do that and get caught over pursuing either Helu or TM are going to the house. Watch out for the PA as well.

See Nebraska vs K-State => most likely predictor of our game.

If we can stop the run we will win this game. If we can't stop the run it'll look like the K-State game. I still think that if ISU wins it'll be 16-14, and if we lose it'll be 55-7.
