As You Wish - Boulder Bars and Restaurant and Pregame info
Here are a few suggestions I came up with for people that had been asking. Certainly there are some other good ones that people have mentioned (Beaujos Pizza comes to mind). Boulder has two main areas. The Hill (campus town) and Pearl Street (much larger of the two areas). I would spend more time on Pearl Street than The Hill. Pearl Street is a ped mall known for their many shops and restaurants (Walnut Street has some great restaurants as well). There will be a lot of people down there on Friday night. Breakfast places: The Village Coffee Shop (http://villagecoffeeshopboulder.com/) greasy spoon that is walking distance to Millenium (personal favorite after a night of drinking). Be sure to tell them it is your first time there when you walk in. They treat visitors with special hospitality. The Buff Restaurant - http://www.buffrestaurant.com/mab.html - Was in an episode of Man vs Food - Not far from Millenium Lucile's http://www.luciles.com/ About a block from Pearl Street. Low Key sort of restaurants and bars. The Sink http://www.thesink.com/- Best Place to go on "The Hill" with very good pizza. A very "College" sort of place. You could walk to Campus from there if you wanted to go check it out. Reminds me a little of Great Plains, but with better College atmosphere. BJ's - http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/ - good food and beer. Old Chicago - 11th and Pearl - Good bar food and pizza, but more of a chain. Lazy Dog - http://www.boulderdowntown.com/go/lazy-dog-sports-bar-and-grill - Sports Bar with a great deck. Pasta Jays - http://www.pastajays.com/2009/pj-ndx.html - Nicer places to eat down near Pearl Street: The Mediteranean - http://www.themedboulder.com/ - Very good stuff Brasserie Ten Ten - http://www.brasserietenten.com/ - Same as Med and across the street. Hapa - http://www.hapasushi.com/ - if you like sushi Boulder ChopHouse & Tavern - http://www.chophouse.com/LocationHome.php?FKLocationID=10090 - Nice steak joint (get the garlic mash potatoes) The Kitchen - http://www.thekitchencafe.com/ - we take clients here. Cocktails - The Rio - http://www.riograndemexican.com/ - Great Margs (they try to limit you to 3 for a reason) and have a deck West End Tavern - http://www.thewestendtavern.com/ - Nice deck area with a great view of the mountains. - Food is good too and was on Man Vs Food for the "Wing challenge". Centro - http://www.centrolatinkitchen.com/ Boulder Beer - a local micro brewery http://www.boulderbeer.com/ great beer, but a small drive from hotel and downtown. As for the game, the pregame is at the Millenium as I mentioned. There is also parking in the parking structure for about $20 next to the basketball arena which is close to HWY 36/28th street. There are other places to park on campus further South near the corner of Broadway and Baseline (walking distance to Folsom, but not as close as the Millenium). http://www.colorado.edu/parking/maps/documents/football_parking.jpg At Folsom Field - the Iowa State Sections are 101, 102, 3. I don't expect there being any issue moving around to different sections especially if the Buffs keep losing and a coaching change appears to be eminent for CU. -
Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
Thanks for all of the help. Sounds like a lot of Cyclones are making the trip, at least from Fanatic! Our plan is to stay in N. Platte Friday night and then leave early in the morning. Would help if we knew kick off time. The later the better! Looking forward to breaking Boulder in Cyclone STYLE!
Love partying with sister in laws, especially not mine!
Keep the ideas brewing and let's leave a LASTING impression on the Boulder Buffs!

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
Me and my wife along with some of my buddies are driving down Friday. Going to ISU game than to the Bronco game Sunday.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
I'm road tripping from Denver. Will probably tailgate at the Millennium House.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
I'll be making the trek with 4 other guys in an RV. I was looking at the CU Athletics website and it looks like the lots open 4 hours before kickoff and RV parking is in Lot 470 near the Law Building. Anyone have any experience with this area? It looks like a ways from the stadium, but on the bright side only $20 versus the $40 at the Grass Lots.
In a related note, all Cyclone Fans are welcome to stop by...just look for the Toyota camper with the 30' flag pole flying the Cardinal & Gold.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
We are flying out and tailgating with a buddies brother who is an ISU fan living in Denver. Sad.. Might be more fans making the trip to Folsom Field then they normally would to JTS.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
Wasn't there talk of a train trip on here for this game at one time? Just thinking there should be quite the Cyclone presence...

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
Plan is set!
Anyone actually tailgated in Colorado? We are leaving N. Platte EARLY Saturday morning and don't want to commit to the Harvest House Tailgate. I have a map of the lots for tailgating but they look small. My group doesn't want to plan on a tailgate and then get there at 9 and have everything full and nowhere to go.
Any experienced CU tailgaters out there that could help?

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
CU tailgating sucks, but I would rather be outside grilling and throwing the football than in a hotel bar. I do enjoy the Millenium House for Basketball gatherings.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
We decided yesterday to make the road trip. Leaving Thursday night after a photo session and will be driving thru the night. Did the same a few years ago, worked well.
Staying at the Renaissance Boulder FlatIron in Broomfield and hitting the Belgium brewery in Ft. Collins Friday.
Hope to see many of you at the Millennium Harvest Hotel Saturday before the game!

Go thru Wyoming on your way out, drop down thru Ft. Collins and hit up the micro breweries.
Pearl St. is pretty cool, like IA City's ped mall, but less douchey. Awesome pic! That is hilarious, and totally what I would expect in Boulder 6 hrs before gametime.

Any experienced CU tailgaters out there that could help? Honestly, I wouldn't plan on tailgating. There are really few places to do it, unless it's in a parking garage, and in either case you will be harassed by CU fans. Perhaps this year they will be more quiet since their coach just got canned, but IMO they're a short step up from Hawkeye fans and not a lot of fun to be around. I went to the Millineum Harvest House two years ago, and we are planning on going back.

I promise you won't have any issue with getting a spot if you arrive at 9.

Re: Road Trip to Boulder Planned!
I will be heading out friday evening from Omaha. Talked to some CU friends who are afraid of the potential for a very large ISU crowd and small CU crowd. It sounds like a relatively large ISU crowd is expected.
Does anybody know what section(s) are for visitors? I would like to purchase a ticket with other ISU fans.

I believe in the NW corner of the stadium. Last time, we just bought tickets, and everyone moved over to the ISU section. People weren't really keeping track of their seats much. May be different this week, but I'm betting there will be a lot of empty seats.
