Re: Should Tiller be starting qb going into 2011?
Tiller has to work on his throwing, otherwise his running ability may be right there with Taylor Martinez. But he cant keep a defense honest with his passing game.

This would be a great question, if it was 2011.
Re: Should Tiller be starting qb going into 2011?
He should be the starter now......Does that answer your question?

Are you joking? Tiller may be a good runner, but there is no way he is Taylor Martinez good. If he was he would be starting. Taylor Martinez doesnt appear to be a great thrower either but NU seems to be doing just fine with his footwork. Basically my point is if Taylor Martinez were on ISU's team he would be starting no doubt which means Tiller isnt anywhere near his class.

Holy crap, I can't believe some of the posts on this board.

And yet, he's 2-0 with one of those victories at Lincoln and the other a shutout over an inferior opponent. I really don't think we've seen all that JT has to offer yet.
Does the A&M game not count last year?
IMO, I don't think Tiller will be starting come next fall. We really need a pass first QB, and JT isn't that guy. Who knows, though, maybe he'll develope into that type of QB.

Tiller is not the answer.

Don't you know this game does not exist. Since we beat Nebraska the week before and it wasn't on TV, it does not officially exist

My bad on the A&M game. And I guess he technically didn't start the UNI game either.
Despite the fact that we lost that A&M game badly, JT had one of his best games as far as completion percentage, going 18-27. He did have two picks, however.
I digress...The point I was trying to make was that I don't think we've seen all he can do and people have been too quick to write him off. I feel he will be right in the mix when spring drills start.

No, it should be an open competition for every starting position, especially one with no incumbent.

Here's my arguement for that....Tiller and Martinez both run 4.4 40's. Have you seen either in open space? I have, they are both fast. Tiller was recruited as a QB, the 19th best dual threat in the country when he was recruited. Martinez was recruited as an athlete. Neither one has a great ability to throw, but when in space, both can take it to the house.
Re: Should Tiller be starting qb going into 2011?
Sam Richardson. Exactly what Herman wants in a QB, Accurate passer that can distribute the ball and mobile.

If he's ready to play at this level and can beat out Tiller, Capello and Barnett, then great - start him and get 4 exciting years out of him. If not, then there's no shame in sticking a redshirt on him for next year and giving a year or two to further develop his skills, learn Herman's system, and prepare for BCS-level football.
