Paul "Go For It" Rhoads!
Because of Paul Rhoads and his team we were in this game and because of him we almost had the greatest play in Iowa State history...
I plan to forget this game and forget the Nebraska Cornhuskers... I hope you and your Hawkeye cousins enjoy the new rivalry named the ******* BOWL!
Go Paul Rhoads- Go I-State...

Loved the call. I am getting a serious man crush on CPR.

Re: Paul "Go For It" Rhoads!
If only he had chosen to "Go For It" from the 20 with forty seconds left, three timeouts, and a kicker who had already nailed a 57 yarder...
For the record, I loved going for 2 in OT. Wish it didn't get that far, or if it had, that we at least had tried to end it beforehand.

Go Paul Rhoads- Go I-State... We were in this game because of him and the play of the team... but we lost it because of his decision... plain and simple. I love the guy as much as anyone else, but this one's on him.
If you wish to be known as Paul "Go For It" Rhoads... then go for it in regulation. Simple as that.
And if we lose in regulation because we turn it over in Nebraska's territory and they kick the winning FG, then so be it. At least we tried to win the game. But just like the Ohio State-Iowa game last year.... we'll never know.

SO GLAD we got CPR as our coach and still extremely proud to be a Cyclone today. Loss still hurts like hell, but if you're gonna go down to a Top10 team, I guess that's the way you do it. And Pelini is an a-hole beyond comprehension.

Love the call.....
Maybe someone else throw the ball.....LIKE 3rd string QB!!!!

Re: Paul "Go For It" Rhoads!
If anyone has questions about either of his calls (the kneeling and the fake field goal), you need to go watch the post game interview. This guy didnt just pull these out of a hat but has logic behind every call that he made. CPR is a stud!!

Depending on the holder to throw a good ball in that wind situation with the game on the line is not smart. But I don't think you can blame the coach for the loss: We had three turnovers, two missed field goals, several innopportune penalties, and a critical dropped pass on 3rd down in the 4th quarter (albeit the pass wasn't the best throw, it was catchable). Any of those could have shifted the game. We had plenty of lucky breaks as well.

Re: Paul "Go For It" Rhoads!
Does Kuehl have experience playing QB? Like in HS? I don't question the call one bit, but it does make me wonder why we wouldn't have a 3rd string QB, or someone that played QB at some point doing the holds. Maybe we don't have a guy like that, I don't know. Just something I wondered. Or maybe Kuehl is that guy. I still say if that happened at the other end of the field we win the game.

Lamaak was the big reason for the success we had running up the middle. With him out, I wonder if Rhoads was concerned with continuing to try and trade punches and just decided to try and win it there.

Dont you think they probable practice this play? It is in the playbook with the players on the field. If Kuehl couldnt make the play woudnt you assume that Rhoads wouldnt have called it? We put someone different in the game and they sniff it out. Great call I just think Kuehl got a little excited and didnt execute.

I'm talking about having someone with QB experience always do the holds, not to change it when we're going to fake it, that'd be stupid. But maybe that is Kuehl, I have no idea.

Re: Paul "Go For It" Rhoads!
That is what I am saying. Kuehl obviously has ran the play in practice and the coach has faith in him. He is too good a coach to think otherwise. I thought to myself even before OT started that we needed to go for two if we scored. IMO we couldnt go toe to toe with them in short yardage situations.
