2. Even though we lost Saturday, we played our butts off and left everything on the field. As weird as it sounds, it's possible to have a "letdown" game after a loss.
3. We seem to struggle at Colorado.
4. While it's a very, very long shot, Colorado can still get to 6 wins and make a bowl. So, like us, they'll have motivation to play hard.
5. Not sure what the players thought of Hawkins, but if they didn't think much of him, they'll be fired up.
Those things said, I still think we win by at least 10. 6. Colorado has ISU @ home, KSU @ home, and then they are @ Nebraska to finish the season. They are likely looking at this as their best chance for a win to close out the season. Not to mention they have played some decent teams pretty well in Colorado.
- 31-13 v Hawaii who is 7-3
- 29-27 v Georgia who is 5-5
- 25-31 v Baylor who is 7-3
- 24-27 v Texas Tech 5-4
7. Road teams had a bad weekend in the BigXII last week:
- #21 Baylor lost 28-55 @ #17 Oklahoma State
- Colorado lost 45-52 @ Kansas
- #8 Oklahoma lost 19-33 @ Texas A&M
- Texas lost 14-39 @ Kansas State
- #12 Mizzou lost 17-24 @ Texas Tech
- The only road victory came on a failed two point conversion in OT...
I know that CPR will have the guys prepared to play, but I am nervous about the fan backlash if we lose. Many people are already chalking this up as a win and saying things like it would be 'inexcusable' to lose. Winning road games in the BigXII is difficult, no matter the circumstances at the other school. And at no time in the history of being an Iowa State fan could I remember any loss being 'inexcusable' in my eyes.

Re: what if we lose at Colorado?
This is going to be a tough game for us. Hawkins out HELPS these guys IMO. The players will be jacked up for the remainder of the season....out to prove everyone. So, we will get their "best shot" on Saturday. I hope we are prepaired....the defense is strong and we throw the kitchen sink at them on offense.
They are decent too IMO: Beat Georgia, played well against BU and Tech too.
I hope ISU comes out of there with a win. We haven't done so since Sage right? Come on CPR!

STOP THE FREAKING NEGATIVE, PARANOID THINKING!!!
(yes, I'm shouting. That's what "changing the culture of losing" is all about!)
If we do, we do. Then we go ahead and beat Missouri. Duh.

You are exactly right. And It's why I don't go here much after we lose-esp bad losses. No one seems to be even-tempered.
