good luck this week from NIU fans
I know I can speak for Huskie Nation that we are pulling for you to get bowl eligible after that heartbreaking loss last week.
I have a lot of respect for the Cyclones. I love Rhoads, love the heart he coaches with and that his kids play with, and I love the chip that you guys carry on your shoulder. As long as you can keep that guy you won't be fanatic about victories over the likes of Neb and Texas...it will be par for the course.
If any of you are interested the Huskies are putting together a solid season, 8-2 (6-0 in the mac). We know it's not a world beater of a conf. but there are some solid teams at the top and we certainly look like we are in a league of our own. If things shake out we should end up 10-2 and have a good chance of winning the MACC game.
Ever school wants a mulligan, ours would be the opener with you guys. We are a completely different team at this point. Our QB, Harnish, is most likely going to be poty in the MAC (which is impressive company, LeFevour, Roethlisberger, Gradkowski, G Wolfe, Leftwich, Pennington, etc.) and he didn't even play against you guys. The starter that day is now our 3rd stringer. Meant nothing at the time, but right now it would be mean another solid ooc victory that would definitely have us in the top 25....oh well.
Good luck to the Cyclones, my adopted team for 2010...I think you have 2 winnable games left and I'm rooting for W's!

I still think we'd stomp NIU...We just out man them talent wise still.

The bolded part I do have to argue with. Who knows if you played us right now, that you would win, or would have won with your current lineup back in the opener. Yes, you guys have improved, but so did we.

Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
Thanks for being a good win! I watched your game last night on ESPN3 during class, and needless to say it was entertaining. Will be pulling for NIU from here on out.
However, I think if we played again today, we'd still win. We've greatly improved on both sides of the ball from Day 1. The game might be closer, but I think we'd still win. We just came 1 play from beating a Top 10 team. We would be undefeated with your schedule.

So you got better throughout the season and we didn't? OK.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -
Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
If we played again today, we'd beat them by even more than week 1, I'm confident about that. We started off incredibly slow this year, with the win against NIU, blown out against Iowa and not looking good against UNI. Now we're beating better teams (yes, Texas in a down year is still a tougher game at Texas than any other game on the NIU schedule) and coming within inches of beating a top ten team. NIU is beating crappy MAC teams where we're (for the most part) playing toe-to-toe with BCS conference teams.

NIU is a very solid team and the OP makes very valid points in his entire post.
I think we would beat NIU if we played them again but I'd rather not attempt it, because we could just as easily lose to them too.

Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
Looks like I missed the backhanded compliment part of that. I agree with others that we've improved just as much, and the margin of victory would probably be similar in a rematch.

We also didn't have Sims for that game and he's come up huge, especially of late.

Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
First and foremost, I came to wish you luck these next two weeks, that was the main message.
You guys are missing the point and no this wasn't a backhanded way of saying we would beat you now. My point was that had we had our 2 year starting QB start the damn game like he should have, then this would have been a winnable game for us (heck it was with our 3rd stringer, 17-10 in the 4th quarter). If we win that game, then we are certainly in the top 25 (we are getting pretty close as it is) so in hindsight it was kind of a big deal for us.
Every team improves week 1 to week 10, that's common sense. I believe you guys have improved vastly above the average. Our situation is different. Hypothetically, think if AA had lost his job in camp and then ended up your full time starter by week 3....how much different would your football team have looked week 1 to now?
Really, who cares who would win that game b/c it doesn't matter unless they do the stupid thing and have us rematch in the LCB.
I'd rather see you guys go beat up on an overrated Pac 10 or MWC team and us beat up on a middle-tier big 10 team in Detroit.

Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
im glad to see NIU doing well. they are the best team we've beaten it appears. But to say NIU would beat us now is a little questionable.
yeah, we'd beat the hawks if we played them last week too.

Re: good luck this week from NIU fans
It's not our fault your coach started Grady. I still think we win, but it would have been closer for sure. You have a very solid team, but its still behind us talent wise.
Any updates on Cam Bell?
