SPECIAL PARKING AT IOWA STATE CENTER FOR FOOTBALL, MUSIC FESTIVAL
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State will be hosting Missouri in a Big 12 Conference football game Saturday with kickoff against the Tigers scheduled for 6 p.m. in Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State will simultaneously be hosting the 64th All-State Music Festival at the Iowa State Center.
The football game will end around 9:30 p.m., overlapping the same time frame as the All-State performance. Large crowds are expected for both events. Everyone is being encouraged to arrive early to minimize traffic congestion and carpool to maximize parking.
The Iowa State University Athletics Department is making special arrangements to accommodate parking for attendees to the All-State Music performance on Saturday evening. Additional lots have been reserved, traffic control will be onsite and parking attendants will assist you to the nearest location. Please refer to the attached map for directions and lot locations.

I'd like to see the map too. This will be interesting. The All-State Music Festival will bring lots and lots of cars.

Lots of parking issues this year with flooding and such too. I don't pay to park, so it looks like I will be having another long walk. Oh well, you get what you pay for!

Oh man, I don't know how they're gonna pull that off. All-State brings a LOT of vehicles.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Who is the bright person in scheduling who needs fired for putting these two events on the same day?

The Big 12 TV contract picked the gametime at 6pm 12 days before the game. ISU can't change the gametime just cause and All State Music has been scheduled for years. In past years when there is a home football game on the sameday the gametime was either 1pm or 11am and parking wasnt' an issue for the game and nobody noticed or cared. All State Music is an event that is important to Ames and ISU because it brings high school students (potential college students) for three days that bring in an economic impact to the community.

You know, it really sets me off when they schedule night games to supposedly enhance attendance...which I dispute. This is a classic screw-up of monumental proportions by whoever has the tough job of looking at the schedule for any dates at Hilton that would impact a football game. How tough can it be to check a calendar of events? Sad, sad, sad and somebody needs an -sschewing which probably will get blown-off with some condescinding happy talk. Just another mark against athletics by the artsy/academic crowd and justifiably so. -
Re: SPECIAL PARKING AT IOWA STATE CENTER FOR FOOTBALL, MUSIC FESTIVAL
I just read the statement that the Big12 picked the game for TV a few days ago which is just my point. Somebody should have told the Big 12 that they could not move the game to 6 because of a conflict at Hilton. And the money is secondary.

Big 12/TV station isn't going to care what it is going on at Hilton Coliseum when selecting the games that they are paying the university to broadcast.

Somebody should have told all state not to schedule on a weekend that there is a football game.

The ASMF is usually on the weekend of an away game for us. It should not be that difficult to ensure that they occur on different weekends.
