Phillip Bates
anyone know if ohio is using him in any weird ways or anything? may be he runs the wildcat? i was wondering cuz he has only thrown 21 passes this year, but has ran the ball 73 times (for around 500 yds). i'm sure most of you dont care since he left our team, but i still root for the guy

Re: Phillip Bates
He's a quitter and far from being a responsible adult in his decision to transfer. Move along

Re: Phillip Bates
They start another guy at QB and have Bates in a few formations split out. They also but him in alot to run option plays.

Re: Phillip Bates
If this guy hadn't been obsessed with playing the QB position, he would have been a great Cyclone. Unfortunately, if that was the case, he would have gone to UNLoyal.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -
Re: Phillip Bates
Too bad the kid burned a year and a half of eligibility because he thought he could be a starting QB. He can't even win the starting job at Ohio. Would've been better off being an impact player here at another position, but hindsight is 20/20, I guess. I would still be interested to know whether he regrets his decision to out himself as a quitter here in 2008.

Re: Phillip Bates
Bates is the Wildcat QB. Spends most all his time at QB, just runs the ball.

Re: Phillip Bates
Kid had a huge part in beating Iowa.
He wanted to be a QB.
As a Cyclone he represented ISU well.
Thank you Phillip and I wish you nothing but the best.

Re: Phillip Bates
We really could have used him at times over the past few years. At least we have the one good memory in the Iowa game.

Thank you Phillip and I wish you nothing but the best. He also quit the team, the coaches, and the unversity and fans. And handled it far from mature and responsible. But lets forget that fact.

When it became obvious that that opportunity wasn't available he moved on.
So should you.
A side from leaving without your permission what exactly did he do?

A side from leaving without your permission what exactly did he do? So quitting on your team mid season is perfectly acceptable? I'm completely fine with transferring. The correct way i.e. beau blankenship style vs. quitting mid season on your team and coaches.... Thats why i have a dislike for him.

A side from leaving without your permission what exactly did he do? 1.) Quit the team during the season.
2.) Acted like a baby.
3.) Never told anyone he was leaving until after the fact.
I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting....
