Marcus DuPree 30for30

I thought this was an excellent story on DuPree and the big school's recruiting process. Don't know if ISU has ever had a recruiter move to the hometown of a recruit for the last two months before signing day.

Of particular interest was how Barry was able to arrange Marcus' mother to get a brand new double wide trailer so he would return his second season.

Makes you wonder what is really going on ala Cam Newton.

I remember watching Dupree in college, always wondered what happened to him because he was a stud. Fill me in on the story, I missed the show.

He was the modern day 2010 running back before anyone else had a guy like him. Big strong and fast. Nobody could stop him. He was just that good. OU switched from the wishbone to the I formation because of him.
He was on the take and they did not mention that.

Well, yes, they did mention it. They alluded to his Uncle having his hand out and getting $50k. But they asked two journalists who covered Dupree in MS and both said their was no evidence or proof that Marcus took cash.

The fact that Switzer managed to get a double-wide for his Mom is no big surprise. OU at that time was dirty.

For those that missed it, Dupree to this day is rated by Barry as his best athlete ever. Played freshman year at OU, and broke rushing records that still stand. Played a few games his sophomore year and suffered a head injury in the Texas game. Knocked out of the game and never returned to OU. Played in the USFL for two seasons, blew out his knee. Out of football, ballooned to over 300 lbs. Got in shape, came back and played for the LA Rams for one year. Now drives a truck and regrets listing to others in his home town and not returning to OU and being part of their national championship team in '85.

Yeah, like OU just decided one day to stop cheating. The only good thing OU has ever done was beat NU last week.
