The Boston Celtics will meet the San Antonio Spurs in what will essentially be the last hurrah for two veteran squads. Won't Happen.
3. The Philadelphia Phillies will face the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. Won't Happen.
4. Completing his storybook comeback story, Michael Vick will lead the Eagles to a victory over his former team on the road to win the NFC title game and advance to Super Bowl 45 versus the New England Patriots. Won't Happen.
5. The labor unrest in the NFL will be settled in time for the 2011 regular season, which will be expanded to 18 games. There is simply too much money at stake not just for both sides but for several other industries and networks that rely upon pro football for revenue and/or marketing to see the season put at risk in lieu of a deal. Any idiot could predict this.
6. The only two teams in the state to make the NCAA Tournament will be the Iowa and Iowa State women’s basketball squads. Any idiot could predict this w/o taking risk. UNI men, ISU men both have an outside chance. your hawks have no chance of making the dance for at least 3 years (and that's if they make all the right moves w/o slipups ANYWHERE...which you know will come if it involes black and gold)
7. Jim Harbaugh will be the next head coach at the University of Michigan, and Rich Rodriguez will spend the season working for television. Won't Happen. At least not both.
8. The Iowa State football team will finish 3-9. Won't Happen.
9. The Iowa football team will finish 8-4 and be invited to the Gator Bowl. Won't Happen.
10. The BCS matchups will be: BCS National Championship Game—Oklahoma vs. Oregon Rose Bowl—Notre Dame vs. Ohio State Fiesta Bowl—Michigan vs. Texas A&M Sugar Bowl—Connecticut vs. LSU Orange Bowl—Georgia vs. Virginia Tech Notre Dame in a bowl game...even a MEANINGFUL bowl game? gtfo of here. Wanna make a prediction of how many hawks are in a johnson county prison by season's end next year? Now THAT'S a prediction I'd like to see you make...cuz if you say none...then you're uneducated, haven't been in this state in the past 10 years, or don't know how to play the odds.

Steve Deace is a lot of things but a "Hawk homer" is not one of them.

Re: My top 10 sports predictions for 2011
It's a stretch calling Deace a hawk-homer. As a UM die hard he should have little love for the uofi. I always figured Deace's 'affection' for ISU was purely financial. As far as predictions go for the uofi and the Cyclones, that might mean he's somewhat unbiased. His 2011 opinions are worth as much as anyone else's. Wonder what he's predicting for the grain markets?

5. Kansas will defeat Kentucky for the 2010 NCAA Basketball Championship.

And I agree with you no way they don't make the tournament next year.

I dont think its bold at all. I have a hard time seeing us make the tourny next year too. Its on the way though, no worries.
EDIT : I see what you did there.. you were talking about the 2012 tourny. Nevermind.

No doubt, I'll take that bet. I see no way we make the Holiday Bowl next year. With our schedule and having to replace most of the key players from a mediocre offense, the chances of making any bowl is probably slim.

Re: My top 10 sports predictions for 2011
I had to LOL at the 10-2 Iowa prediction. What a joke of crack-filled season.
Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd
