If that is all that matters then get rid of replay.

Iowa was playing pass all the way and every time they ran the ball (which was not often) Mizzou was getting 6+ yards easy (the 3 RBs combined averaged exactly 6 YPC). I think when you throw that many times and basically have the entire game on your shoulders you are bound to make some stupid mistakes.
Those were exactly my thoughts. No doubt Mizzou is a good team and Gabbert is a great quarterback, but this is yet another "gimmick" offensive scheme that seems pretty one dimensional when you step back an look at it. Yeah, they racked up increadible passing stats, but to what end? They lost. When a team's game plan is so unbalanced toward the passing game, it just increases the probability for interceptions or sacks at some point in the game. Does the Mizzou offense have a way of running off clock to salt away a victory? From what I saw, they are only capable of a short pass game, which usually stops the clock after each play. Need more versatility than that. The fact that they had the passing stats they did, but yet never led the game until late, is telling. Something flawed there.

I saw that too. I couldn't believe he wasn't called for it and I wasn't necessarily rooting against the Hawks either.

Completely agree. It's a gimmick, same as Texas Tech. IMO it's a good scheme to get your program from average/mediocre to above average/good. I don't see a program ever becoming elite without some sort of balance on offense.

Thanks for the tip. Is that right around the corner next to the 1958 Iowa National Championship Trophy display?

I would say some of his fingers might be but the ball is clearly on the ground and perhaps pinned against the ground and his helmet/facemask..

    Re: Congrats Iowa

After watching the game, I'd feel fairly comfortable in taking Mizzou in 7-8 out of 10 matchups between the two teams. Mizzou came off rusty to start, had a couple really dumb plays and sprinkle in a bit of luck for Iowa on that INT in the endzone and that obviously bush league reversal call.

Good point. This thread right here and on the betting board clearly prove how classy ISU fans are.

You're all so gracious in defeat. Or not.

Live in glass houses much, Cyclonestate78???

Let me let you guys in on a little secret....

IT WAS A MINOR BOWL GAME.

Who the hell cares? What's with the 40 or so pages between a couple of threads on this board crying about how Iowa won some irrelevant bowl game? It's the freakin Insight Bowl. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the Hawks won, but geez.......melting down because your rival won the Insight Bowl??? That's probably a new low for society I would have to think.

As for the alleged bad call........

It was CONCLUSIVE that the ball was on the ground. There's actually a freeze cam out there that shows the ball is on the ground WITHOUT the receiver's hands being under it. It was for a split second, but that's all you need.

How pathetic does your program have to be to have a fan base that gets their panties in a bunch over their rival winning the Insight Bowl? I can understand a BCS Bowl or National Title, but Insight Bowl? I mean, is this for real???

And shut up about Iowa having the "worst fan base in America". Just shut your mouth. Read this board, big mouth. You guys really exude some real class over here too and this thread just proves it. Jealous much? I'm sorry you can't ever have EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to the success Iowa is having. I'm sorry our program is at a level where our down years (this year) are better than your best years in school history. That's not the fault of Iowa fans. Blame your coaches, players, administration. And quit going through life being so envious of others. My goodness. Talk about a HORRIBLE fan base. Geez.
