Why is TN in the music city bowl?? It is a home game for them. Pretty unfair for NC.... Similar to Hawaii always getting pick for their home bowl and Boise back in the day for Humanitarian Bowl....
What you have to understand about the Hawaii and Humanitarian Bowls is that not too long ago WAC teams were winning 8-10 games and not going to bowl games. In 2001, Hawaii went 9-3 and blew out BYU (who was undefeated at the time) in the last game of the year and didn't go to a bowl. Those WAC teams basically had to have bowls created to assure they didn't stay home during the postseason when a bunch of 6-5 teams were playing in bowls.
Bowls in home stadiums are nothing new. UCLA plays in the Rose Bowl, and USC is in the same city. Miami played in the Orange Bowl. SMU used to play in the Cotton Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl was created so that Arizona State (formerly a WAC power) would have a bowl to play in.
