Don't confuse hope for a plan. -

Sure, it wouldn't technically be the "Rose Bowl" but we would be playing at the Rose Bowl.
And obviously, that's the only way we could ever play there. (Not counting a non-conf game @ UCLA)

You have to realize that if we were good enough to be playing in the Rose Bowl many fans would be crawling our of their holes and coming to all of the game especially this one.

Re: What kind of crowd would ISU bring if they were playing in the Rose Bowl?
I can think of about 50 guys I went to school with that are same age or within a year of myself. Only 3 have any type of affiliation today and even that is sporadic. Most of this is due to them living in non-adjacent states to Iowa.
If Iowa State were to make it to a bowl, every one of these guys would be at the Rose Bowl. I believe this proportion would hold true over 40 years of alums. It would be 50k easy and quite possibly more. Then factor in families and fans. Easy.
Iowa State's alumni base if bigger than any of you think.

Yeah.. my guess of 30K was probably way too high.
ISU fans are very loyal.. and very cheap.
Plus if you figure that we cant sell out JTS at 45,000. I suppose 20-25 fans. We could easily fill a quarter of the rose bowl.

Re: What kind of crowd would ISU bring if they were playing in the Rose Bowl?
30 is way to low. We had 30 thousand for the Insight bowl. I'd say 40,000. Keep in mind there would be tons of ISU fans and alumni from outside the state that would go.

Re: What kind of crowd would ISU bring if they were playing in the Rose Bowl?
Iowa travels better than Iowa State and hasn't ever taken 50,000 to a bowl. There is ZERO chance Iowa State would.
And I hope the above poster means the Insight Bowl with Sage and Co. because it sure as hell wasn't last year's.

Re: What kind of crowd would ISU bring if they were playing in the Rose Bowl?
We took 30,000 + to the first insight bowl, I guarantee we would take at least 15,000 more than that to a BCS bowl.

You guys have to realize ISU fans from all over the country would go. Hell, I'd find a way to get down there. I think 35,000-40,000 is a very realistic number.

Re: What kind of crowd would ISU bring if they were playing in the Rose Bowl?
For the people thinking we would only get 30K fans to a BCS bowl, they need to re-think this. There would be ISU fans attending this game that have never been to an ISU football game, EVER. Fan would make time and find the money to find a way to get to that game, because who knows if ISU would ever be back to a bowl game like that.
Just because we can't get 45K to a home game on a cold fall day, doesn't mean we couldn't get 40K to a BCS bowl down south against a big time opponent.

This is what I could see happening.

Well we bring about 15,000 people to most bowl games (other than the 9-3 season) I just cant imagine getting that number to go 3x as much.
