Oklahoma beat Washington St in the 2003 Rose Bowl. Yes the Big 12 was an at-large team but recently things have changed with the BCS so the Rose Bowl will not get their Pac 10 Big 10 matchup, although they will do all in their power to do so.

On a personal note, I haven't been to an ISU bowl game but I'd do everything in my power to go if ISU made it to the rose.

I have a real hard time believing that. The Insight Bowl attendance that year was 41,813, so I seriously doubt there were many more than 25k actual Clone fans in attendance. Definitely not more than 30k. With that said, we'd probably bring about the same, IMO as that was a great year after a LONG, LONG bowl/success drought. The fans were starved and very hungry. http://qctimes.com/sports/college/bi...cc4c03286.html -

UConn fans should be swooping up Fiesta Bowl tickets too since its their first BCS bowl! ****, wait a minute.... 2002 Orange Bowl for Iowa had 50,000. ISU would be in the same neighborhood. It would be a once in a life time event and ISU fans would spring up every where.
Some of you guys underestimate our fan base. Just because some people don't like watching a 5-6 team play Mizzou doesn't mean that people wouldn't take a vacation. The bowl game is just an excuse to leave Iowa during winter.

Los Angeles is probably a bit cheaper to fly into than Phoenix, with multiple airport options as well. Also, we had a compounding issue, with the other school being so close, meaning we were fighting their fans for cheaper flights as well.

This is correct. There weren't 35k at the Insight in 2000 regardless of whatever propaganda the AD wants to publish. They inflated the number that went last year as well.
I'll stick with 20k.

Insight Bowl facts & figures Well since I was on the field during the game I will rely on what my eyes saw and that was ISU easily had at least 75% of the crowd.

#2 If it being a huge bowl made a difference, why isn't UConn's fan base jumping all over the Fiesta Bowl? A BCS bowl is a BCS bowl according to this thread apparently. On #1, I talked to a bunch of ushers ar halftime who estimated it was between 35 and 40. They had no real bias but a lot of experience.

I'll stick with 20k. I would say 30k. There were little Pitt fans.
10-20k more is plausible for the Rose Bowl.
