I can't really argue with the hypocritical nature of the NCAA. They seem to make their decisions based on whatever will make them and their partners the most money. I would say, however, that any team has the chance to rise up. Auburn hasn't been good for years and isn't considered a "power". They got a great player (probably by paying him) and the NCAA is allowing him to play in order to make the most money.
Regarding what I bolded - you are aware that the game is on Monday, not tonight right? I am angry because MBA classes start back up on Monday so I'll miss the first half of the game. Thank goodness for DVR! Uh oh! I hadn't noticed that. I my defense, I DID say in my orginal post that I was not interested. Now I am going to have to rely on self discipline to not watch the game. Could be a challenge.

Having said that, I really hate how they've dragged these games out past Jan. 1
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -

They have had a couple of down years, but have been near the top of the heap for a very long time. They just have been overshadowed recently due to the success of Alabama and before that, Florida. This was all taken from Wiki.

I admit that I didn't do reasearch and was just going on my perception of Auburn. I always thought they were a good team/program but never viewed them as a "power". My personal perception will be difficult to change, but you proved me wrong and enlightened everyone else who might have trouble using google.
Thanks!

Thanks! Well.... to a certain degree you were correct. Auburn sank to the level of having to hire a 5-19 coach that is a total ****** but who they knew they could control as a puppet. Then they had to go out and get the best QB that money could buy. To say that Auburn is a great program statistically is one thing. To say they are a great program overall is bogus because they run one of the dirtiest programs in college football.

Thanks! Sorry for the information overload. I was just trying to point out that Auburn hasn't been on the outside looking in. CycloneState78 did a much better job of saying what I was meaning to say in far fewer words.

Yawn. I have never been so upset with the NCAA. The whole Cam Newton thing. The Ohio State situation. The BCS runs the show. The NCAA, well i'm not even really sure what their job is other than stickin it to ISU. College football is in REAL SAD SHAPE imo.

no one is more pumped for this game than rebeccacy

Re: Who's pumped for the BCS Championship Game?
Nope. I think its the whole NCAA crap and the blatancy with which they ignored a problem, then ineligible/eligible, coupled with a teams coach that stiffed us make my intrest down. (same reason Ohio st game had no interest)
I mean I know the ncaa stuff happens all the time but it was very in the open and I "think" the trophy for this year and that heisman thingy will probably be moot in a few years making even the history of this game even less important. plus i dont have cable. -

Even if Chizik wasn't coaching Auburn, I'd still be rooting for Oregon. Reason A is because of $Cam Newton and the absolute farce of an NCAA ruling regarding his status. Reason B is because I'm ******* sick of the SEC. I love to see cycles of power, and a team from the Pac-10 that is traditionally solid but never this good is a lot more likeable than a business-as-usual SEC program.
I really like Oregon's chances in this game because I see the 2 offensive units being equally incredible, and I think Oregon has the superior defense (although neither is very good). Defense wins championships.
