I wish ISU would pull the trigger on this kid. He is the best player to come out of AHS since Jamie Burrow. I know both Iowa and ISU were close to offering at 1 time. With the recent LB defection and recruit jumping ship I wonder where the stand on him.

He's pretty impressive. Hopefully he comes to ISU, either on scholarship or by walkon. I'm not sure if he has the build to bulk up like Knott, but he's still a pretty good athlete that I'm sure our staff would like to have.

No offense to anyone here, but could the staff be counting on him walking on and them getting to see him that way other than burning a scholarship on him without seeing much first?

You realize that's not saying much, and is probably the reason he doesn't have an offer.

I think he is the about the only reason that this year's Ames High Team made a run in the CIML and Playoffs.

I think that he is too small to be a linebacker in college, but as a soph and junior he played safety for the Little Cyclones.

I'm sure CPR has a plan for Nate. He's the type of kid we'd like on the sidelines but he may have to earn that scholarship 1st.

Not saying he isn't their best player in a while, but they have had better prospects. James Kohler(who is playing bball somewhere) was a high 3 star LT prospect, as he had the perfect frame and athleticism for the position. He had some really good offers too.

I think the OP was refering to the LB position. If not there are a lot of recent AHS alums on scholly at various levels at other positions in colloge football. AA was only 5 years ago. For LB Criuses older brother was a very good player and Sam Tim has a lot of potentional. These are guys ISU wanted as walk-ons but they got opportunities for schoolies at NW Missouri St and UNI.

Jamie Burrow was a starter at Nebraska his Senior year and 2001 Second-Team All-Big 12.

Does anyone know roughly how big he is right now. I couldn't get a handle on that. He does look like a great tackler though and he is extremely quick to the ball. On the offensive side, he just looks like a horse. Good lord no one could tackle him.
