If true, why was Lynn brought back? Why wouldn't English get another chance? I realize they are different scenarios, but seems a little odd to me. Maybe we gave him an ultimatum but if we don't have anybody better, that doesn't make sense.
I don't how to say this but I will try. English basically said we weren't good enough for him. He wanted something "better." Lynn just said I feel more comfortable with Kansas. Now, I am of the opinion that the staff may have felt English was a reach at a DT and therefor was somewhat borderline so then the staff decided not to mess wiht him as much and go for another reach who would like the opportunity instead of looking at us as a fallback. Lynn on the other hand, I feel, was high on the staffs list, hence the early offer. I think it came down to them being willing to forgive Lynn because of the high want level while they were somewhat "meh" about English and weren't willing to sacrifice a bunch of time on someone like that. I also think the staff may have always felt that Lynn did want to be here. I know the reasoning here isn't put into words very well but it's the best I could do.

Makes sense to not burn bridges. Thanks for the input.

That's how I view it. The coaching staff said they don't put up with "soft" verbals you either commit or you don't. Lynn committed so was in with the program. He changed his mind and probably felt that KU was a better fit and changed his commitment. He later decided he made a mistake and wanted to commit back with ISU.
The difference between English and Lynn is that English never gave a "hard" commitment to the program. From what I gather from here, he wanted to pursue other or better offers while having our offer as a plan B. The coaching staff said we don't play that game and pulled it.
Interesting thing we'll never find out probably is if Kyle changed his mind too if the staff would still take him back.

I really think that Boyd was trying to force the issues by verballing to ISU. He was even spotted wearing ISU gear around his school in a newscast. My bet is his parents really wanted him to go to Baylor when the offer surfaced, and we were done at that point. He did give us a visit to make sure, and I hope at the end he told the staff he was going to Baylor, before he announced for them.
