So we have decided that we are going to take one road trip every year to watch a road football game. This year we are thinking the Mizzou game. Has anyone ever been to a game there? What should we expect for hotels, night life, restaraunts, game day, etc? Any info you can add would be great...
Also, I may look into trying again at arranging a bus trip if I can get enough interest for this game. Will post info if I go this route. Will be some changes to how it's done compared to the Insight trip I attempted that failed.
We used to stay in Columbia on Friday or Saturday nite but prefer now to stay in KC on Friday nite, visit Kelley's on Friday nite, it's a short drive to Columbia. drive right up 63 &163 to I35, back to Ames after the game.

Went there one year and stayed in some town about 45-60 minutes north of Columbia then drove the rest of the way on game day. Not a bad place to tailgate at, its not ISU but the locals will treat you well. They'd rank right there with KSU and Nebraska for road trips. I have been to all the north schools but Colorado for football and can easily say we rank #1 in the north for tailgating.
I'd say this is fair enough, I know I am biased but I have NEVER heard a bad thing about our tailgating from another fanbase/non-Cyclone fans I've brought or met at them. even if they don't like our team they will come to Ames for the party we throw. It helps with the setup around the stadium we have.
I would like to check out Columbia sometime although admittedly not high on my list of away games to go to. Alway hear good stuff about College Station, really wanna go there and Austin. I really wanna see what the Pokes offer too. Kansas schools both making me wanna ralph when i think of tailgating/partying there...
I went to the game a couple years ago. Pretty much drove in for the game and out shortly after. Stayed in KC area. Checked out campus a bit while we were there. Fans ranged from cordial to friendly. Also parked in one of the campus parking ramps and walked to the stadium (free parking in the ramps). No big central area for tailgating from what I saw.
We went 2yrs ago and stayed there at same hotel as team and media it was nice and had sports bar in it where we ate ,and hung out after game watching all other games that night . We drove to game parked in a lot decided not to tailgate ,but had fun just walking around checking it out .
