Rhoads is a defensive coach. He would hire someone like Shane to keep the defense the same over bringing in another outside mind to clash with. Plus it's not like Wally will quit talking to Shane when he retires. I think he will be ready by the time Wally is ready to hang it up, and if he needs help he has a former DC as the HC so he will be in good hands.
Wally could be here longer than people think too. He could coach until he dies. Working with his son could keep him around longer too. I wouldn't be shocked if he stepped down when Shane starts fielding offers and hands the reigns over. I'm sure he would still assist with the defense if needed even when retired. But I don't see it happening for awhile so I'm not too worried.
