Re: Cyclone Club Members
Company match people! Company match. I would assume most major employers have company match programs. I took advantage of mine and am currently a first year memeber of the Cyclone Club at the Cardinal level ($500) and I paid no where near $500. I also got my cousin to chip in so his money was matched as well.

Re: Cyclone Club Members
Maybe links to membership on the Cyclone and Gridiron clubs should be included permanently on the CycloneFanatic header.

Re: Cyclone Club Members
I plan on just getting my first ever non-student season tickets, doing cyclone club and gridiron club all at the same time this year. Just saving now.

I was somewhat shocked the Gridiron club only had about 500 members, but I wouldn't have guessed it any higher than 1500. Knowing the amount of donors in the Cyclone Club isn't real high, I can't imagine too many of those people will also donate to the Gridiron club.
I think the Gridiron and Cyclone club should have monthly payments setup for those individuals that would like to pay that way. I think it could sway quite a few people to join. IMO, asking someone to donate a little over $8 per month makes it sound much easier than asking for $100 upfront. I don't understand the point of investing in the gridiron club, that is probably part of their problem. If I wanted to donate more, I would up my NCC donation to the next level for better seats.

Either that or i could pick up a hillside football ticket for the same price as CGC membership, giving the same amount of money to the AD and getting a seat to use or give away, and helping our attendance numbers even if unused.

If you donate a the cardinal level for around $500-$600 a year, an extra hundred dollars won't bump you up a level and may only marginally improve your seats the next year.
In that case you could consider just seeing that 100% of the extra donation you make goes directly to the FB program.
Also Im under the impression that you do accrue some points for a CGC memberships that go towards your NCC account.

The 'incentive' is knowing your helping our football program directly. You get some perks with various outings and special events put on by the CGC, but it really has nothing to do with tickets as far as I know. And it has nothing to do with the other sports. You donate to the CGC because you want our football program to have more money, etc. College football is a business, and compared to many other BCS schools, we are behind in many areas. I feel good knowing I am helping improve our situation. That's my incentive.
How is that hard to understand? AboutUs - Cyclone Gridiron Club
"Every winning college football program nationally has, at its core, a committed group of people dedicated specifically to making and sustaining that school's gridiron success. That is what the Cyclone Gridiron Club does for us. The existence and generosity of the Gridiron Club allows us to have the resources to fashion an Iowa State football legacy that is worthy of a great university like ISU. The Gridiron Club funds many day-to-day needs which are necessary to building a winning program in the nation's premier football conference."
Paul Rhoads
Head Coach
“There couldn’t be a more exciting time to be a member of the extended family for Cyclone football. An elite future for Cyclone football rests largely upon the personal investment of people like you in the Cyclone Gridiron Club. Whether it’s buying tickets, donating to the club, inviting a neighbor to Jack Trice Stadium or simply listening to a game on the radio, your contributions are core to the future results. Thank you for your past support of Iowa State football, and Go Cyclones!”
Jamie Pollard
Director of Athletics
"The Cyclone Gridiron Club is a tremendous asset for Iowa State University and the Cyclone football program. The club provides great support for the team through fund-raising activities, and it adds to the excitement of our Cyclone home football games with tailgates and other events. All of us at Iowa State – especially the student-athletes, coaches and Athletic Department staff – appreciate what the Cyclone Gridiron Club does for the university and for Cyclone Football. I urge you to become a part of this very important and fun organization, and help us build the excellence and excitement of Cyclone athletics!"

Re: Cyclone Club Members
I'm kind of with Hos on this one. If I give more money it is likely to be through the Cyclone Club as I'd rather support all sports at ISU.
Don't get me wrong, I think CGC is a good thing, but I'd rather my cash stay in the general fund supporting athletics as a whole.

How is that hard to understand? Our athletic department as a whole is always going to have its first priority as football. So if you give $100 to the AD, in whatever form, chances are its going there. Not to mention the fact that the AD can always, even with the CGC, find ways to do whatever it wants with its own budget. If CGC fundraising levels are up, it can always just allocate less from the general fund to FB if it wants to spend more of the overall budget on say... tennis. However, Jamie Pollard, and any future athletic director, knows where the money comes from, and knows where the biggest investments need to go, the first being overwhelmingly football, followed by mens basketball.
As for the quotes, of course there's going to be support for the CGC. More money coming in is more money coming in, and they might figure they have more chance getting an extra hundred or two by getting people to sign up for an additional membership than by adding onto their current one. Theyre also promoting increasing your cyclone club level as well. Theyre going to promote anything that they think might bring them in some extra money.

I'm pretty sure most companies follow up with the institution to see where the $$$ is going before making the decsion to match or not.

And donating online you can give to the ISU Foundation and specify you want the proceeds to go to the Cyclone Club (along with your membership number). Boom. Company match.
