Re: Traditions?
Tomahawk chopping towards the uprights while chanting "GOOOOOALPOOOOOOOST!!!" was always fun. Actually, tearing down the goalposts and walking them down Lincoln Way and chucking them into Lake LaVerne was great as well. At least until the overengineered them to the point where the only way to take them down now is with a plasma cutter...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

The origin of horn guy as I know it is as follows (correct me if I'm wrong):
There is a guy with a Vuvu Zela type horn who plays every first down.
Horn: Duh Duh Duh Duuuuuh
Crowd chants: Go Cyclones!
Horn: Duh Duh Duh Duuuuuh

Horn: Duh Duh Duh Duuh Duuh Duuuuuuh
Crowd chants: ISU! (in unison with the lasst Duuuuh)
The horn guys tune comes directly from the First Down Cheer that the band still sometimes plays. When the current football staff implemented their no huddle offense the band was asked not to play First Down Cheer (and many other cheers) while the team was on the field because they are relaying signals and info without a huddle and can snap at any time. The band agreed and does not play while the offense is up to the line.
Hence, horn guy took over for the band so everyone (mainly the student section and band) can do First Down Cheer.

Re: Traditions?
We actually had a fundraiser for our homecoming dance by selling a t-shirt, a vuvuzela, and a game ticket for $5. The vuvuzelas were subsequently banned the next game by our league based on over 200 complaints from both fanbases at the game. The buzzing from the horns were heard almost a mile away to boot!

Re: Traditions?
Horn guy(s) at least isn't obnoxious with it - they use it for a specific purpose and use it more like a bugle
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -
Re: Traditions?
I know of at least a couple people that have had vuvuzelas at games (jr4cy and cydude16 come to mind) and I'm sure there are more.
And Flag Guy, you can at least take solace in the fact that the flag runner right now isn't a total ****** bag, unlike last year.

The next biggest tradition, and a close second, is complaining about poor attendance and the lack of Hilton magic on cyclone fanatic.

Re: Traditions?
Actually, it seems to me that we really don't have a unique Cyclone tradition. We need to get something that immediately identifies us, like the hated USC fanfare or the hookem horns sign. Things that really p--- off the opposition fans. Most of the things the fans do in JTS are done in most stadiums and are not unique to us.
