Athlon sucks

I let this get under my skin last year and a lot of people contacted Athlon. This year not so much. If they don't miss ISU readership, good for them. Like last year, I'm not buying.

And no one is expecting an ISU only cover. There is no good reason why ISU doesn't share a cover with the northern forgotten four except disrespect. If you're the only conference team not pictured you are indeed being disrespected.

Yeah, Athlon does suck - and ISU not being on the cover isn't even the #1 reason why. Unless it's Texas or Oklahoma they really don't give a rat's arse anyway.

At the time we had ten UT only had something like eighteen. Athlon was jerking ISU fans chain.

Yea athlon is worthless anyways! They just base their predictions on the final results of the past season then just predict Iowa State at last place all the time.

Thanks for asking about an Athlon Sports College Football magazine with Iowa State on the cover. Unfortunately, we have very little support from distributors in Iowa requesting an Iowa State cover. As editors, we would love to produce one.

No one is banging on Athlon to put Baylor or KU on their covers. Let me be clear, no one should care about Athlon but to state that they're not disrespecting us is simply false.

Clearly they are in business to sell magazines. I would imagine that they have determined that producing an ISU cover is more trouble than it's worth. It is what it is. We have a small fan base in a small state. We are a distant 2nd in the state when it comes to college football.

Either way, Athlon probably won't be publishing any hard copy magazines 10 years from now.

What do they gain in Texas by including Baylor? How is it more trouble to add an ISU player to the KSU/KU/MIZZ cover?

Same response I got. I then emailed back saying thanks for the reply. They emailed me back again saying that they had a cover designed with ISU on it, but didn't produce it because of the reason above. And at the end they said good luck to the Hawkeyes.... Haha just kidding, they said Cyclones. (But that wouldn't have surprised me in the least)

I don't have all the facts related to costs vs income for producing Athlon magazines and neither do you. It doesn't really matter that much to me, because I never read their magazine, due to the availability of free content on the web.

As long as there are airports there will always be magazines and newspapers.

True. But I think it's reasonable to assume that Athlon could omit TTU and Baylor from their covers and sell the amount of magazines they intend to sell in the state of Texas.

So why go to the trouble of putting them on the cover?

ISU isn't on Athlon's cover because Athlon doesn't respect ISU. I've never said we've earned their respect. I'm simply stating it's a logical conclusion knowing that ISU is the only program not pictured on one of their covers. Athlon only gains by adding ISU to a cover because we're the only B12 program in the state, so why not do it?
