Will you miss the Thursday game this year?

ISU is having its opener against UNI on a Saturday instead of a Thursday, which has been the case for the past couple years. So, dou you like that this years opener is on a Saturday or will you miss the Thursday opener?

I liked starting the year earlier. That week you're pumped about the game, and we got to enjoy it two days before most of the other schools. Other than that I don't really mind either way.

I always liked the opener on Thursday. It was kinda fun just to be difference than (most) everybody else. But I understand why they aren't doing it this year. I'm sure plenty of people have a tough time getting there, and I do like having more time to tailgate. But its always fun to have the first saturday of college football open to watch other games after ISU is already 1-0.

I'm not going to lie..living 2 hrs away I ******* about Thursday games but I kind of enjoyed taking those two days off. Kind of felt like mini-vacations. That said, I'm pretty happy they went back to Saturdays as God intended.

I can understand why people didn't care for it being on thursday. I enjoyed it because the last 3 years i've taken that day and friday off and then had memorial day off. So it made for quite a lovely little vacation to start off football.

No doubt about it, loved the Thursday night game. Also this year, my ladies mother decides to have a family reunion on that weekend. If the game would have been on Thursday I will still be able to go. I have to wait an extra week to see the new scoreboard and feel like Eric Cartman waiting for the Wii.

My friend scheduled his wedding for Saturday, expecting a Thursday night game. now we have 10 tickets and 2 parking passes that will not be used.

Plus I loved taking the 2 days off from work and having a 5 day weekend!!!!

There are easy cures to these.

This year would've been awesome for a Thursday opener since I don't have class on Thursday.

As a student, Thursday games were awesome.

However, now as a graduate and having to drive 3+ hours to a game, Saturday is going to fit my schedule much better.

I will absolutely miss it. I have 2 friends getting married (both Cyclones) that opening Saturday who picked the wedding date specifically because they assumed the opener would be Thursday.

I always liked it. Loved taking Friday off, and still having a full Labor Day weekend for family.

ISU enjoyed big crowds on Thursday, so the argument that it impacted attendance is false. I am sure a Saturday season opener will do well also, but just as many people impacted by Thursday game will be impacted by family plans for Labor Day weekend.

I regret that JP could not have pulled off a deal to get this game televised. I think it would have been great to establish a tradition of the ISU being one of the schools that officially kicked off college FB every year. Would not have minded UNI every year on the schedule for Thursday night game if we could have gotten a multi-year TV deal for the "ABC College Kickoff Game sponsored by HyVee".
