Re: Another Award for Lampkin
Unbelievable... about halfway through the second clip I just got giddy. That type of speed is a real weapon. I just hope we find a way to get him the ball with enough room to turn on the jets. How on earth did he end up here? That type of speed plays anywhere.

Wow......absolutely cannot wait to see him in a Cyclone uniform!

Re: Another Award for Lampkin
It seemed as if he was just coasting along effortlessly in the 100. Kind of like Usain Bolt.
He should be a very good returner for us, on a couple of those the other team appears to have good coverage and he pulls a Reggie Bush and runs all the way across the field. If him and Jarvis both pan out the offense could be really exciting in a couple years.

Re: Another Award for Lampkin
If/when Teddy blows up here at ISU, I think we need to make up some read and gold shirts with this logo. -
Re: Another Award for Lampkin
Looks like a solid recruit for ISU. Should be a good burner type WR.
His route running would be the only thing I question....he has solid on field agility and phenomenal speed....at WR though, speed only means so much.
Paul Chaney Jr. had a lot of people at Iowa excited when he came in due to his unbelievable track speed....but track and football and two different beasts. Lampkin appears to have better agility than Chaney....but I don't see much in his highlights with regard to his route running skills (a lot of his highlights are kick returns) or his ability to make catches consistently - those will be the two things that will determine if he becomes a star at ISU or if he goes the way of Paul Chaney at Iowa. Looks like he could contribute at KR/PR right away though.
Lampkin actually kind of reminds me of an Iowa recruit - Jordan Canzeri. Though Jordan is a RB, he is the same kind of speed type specialty player (probably a 3rd down type back for Iowa):

Hopefully both recruits work out for both schools (though I hope Lampkin plays poorly during four games in his career ).

The main difference is that the way those types of players are used in the offenses. ISU will find a place on the field for playmakers and get them the ball. In Iowa's offense, they will have to be good at running routes.

Yeah, I have a feeling that Lamp will catch more screens and short passes in the slot to get him the ball in space so he can do his thing. In an offense like Iowa's he would have to line up outside and run deeper pro style routes.
If all he does his first couple of years is take 3 or 4 kick offs to the house and only catches a few passes, he will still be a difference maker. Here's hoping he does so in some big rivalry games during his career.

Re: Another Award for Lampkin
You don't have to have much experience running routes to catch the ball in a screen play or swing pass of some sort.

Re: Another Award for Lampkin
So, what was his time in that final? I can't see the video...
We got a new Marshall here in town, and his name's Paul Rhoads, and the times, they is a'changin'.

I guess if the ISU coaches intend to use Lampkin for nothing more than returning kicks/punts and screen passes, then I agree with you....but you have to hope that a guy with his skill set can run routes and be a threat more than 3 yards down field on offense.
In ISU's offense, WR's that can run precise short routes are critical....even your slants/outs/curls require precise route running to be successful - and ISU runs a lot of those routes. If Lampkin is going to make a major impact at ISU, he will need to be a good route runner (I'm speaking about offense of course - you can make a big special teams impact without having any clue how to run a route).

Re: Another Award for Lampkin
Considering that he hasn't even reported for summer drills yet, I have a wild suspicion that even if he doesn't know how to run routes, he'll have every opportunity to pick that up before he plays.
