Football.. mixing up our schedule
Since were going to be stuck with 9 conference games for awhile and our series with iowa... I think it would be a good idea for iowa state to mix up our schedule a bit like some of the SEC teams do. Just off the top of my head, we could set it up something like this:
Baylor
Iowa
Kansas
BYE
Oklahoma
Kent State
Texas
BYE
Texas A&M
Missouri
UNI
Tech
OK State
K-State
It doesn't have to be exactly like that or anything, but putting UNI and Kent State or somebody halfway or 3/4 the way through our season with bye weeks mixed in will go a long way at keeping our guys healthy and having short blocks to keep them focused.
I will hate seeing our scheule end up something like this:
Oklahoma
@Texas
Texas A&M
@Tech
@Baylor
Mizzou
all back-to-back -

I just don't like the way we have to play all of the same conference teams in the same order every year. I really wish that would get changed because it is going to get really old always opening with Texas then Baylor, Mizzou, etc. in that same order ever year.

Re: Football.. mixing up our schedule
Honestly, if the Big 12 offices want to see things shake up they should take the last conference game from everybody's schedule and move that one to the top of next years conference season which would move everybody down on their own schedule. This would ensure that we don't always play the same team at the beginning or end of the season. Which would in turn put an ou or tu in ames in novemeber and not having the Cyclones in Austin or Lubbock in September. Not saying that this is the perfect solution, but it would create quite a bit of interest especially if an up and coming team just happens to hit one of the big boys in the mouth - oh wait, that can't happen...sorry - MY BAD!
Just rambling on here folks...nothing more to see...move along...
Cyclone fan since 1964 and proud of it!
